Then why are they signing with FCS schools? If they were so good (but not P5), and we just dropped the ball, they'd be signing with Marshall, Charlotte, Liberty, Coastal, App St, Temple, ECU etc. That doesn't seem to be the case with most of them.

Why dont you all just look at their offer list instead of arguing back and forth? Lets focus on those kids who should be signing with us today.

If we did sign these kids, Mr BB would be the first to complain "I know he's a top 25 player in 757 but his only other offers were bad FCS schools".

The last 3 classes and this years class:

2018: Overall-124th C-USA-12th (projected)
2017: Overall-124th C-USA-13th
2016: Overall-120th C-USA-12th
2015: Overall-110th C-USA-10th

I mean d*** are we even trying. Bobby Wilder sucks at recruiting. Plain and simple.

You guys are all arguing about what a die hard fan should be considering,. What's really important are the opinions of the casual 757 fans and players they are the ones who need to be impressed, not us. They are not likely to ask such deep questions as we are on this board.
All most 757 players, coaches and parents will see is we did not sign anyone. That's as far as they'll think it.

Just FYI. Here's a story about the vagaries of recruiting local kids and how you may do everything right and still lose. Hope it can be accessed:

Out of the HR top 25, only 7 players went to G5 schools.

Most of them were defensive backs or linebackers. Our recruiting class has not included many at those positions this year. (I hope thats because we are good there). Even out of the three we still hope to sign (Mayo, Davis, Hill) two are wide receivers. Only Hill is a linebacker. So that tells me if you look at talent level and position need, there were only 2 players in the top 25 that were positions ODU needed this year that will play at the G5 level.

I would have loved to see us get White, a wide receiver, but he committed to UVA (understandable). That leaves Stringer, a LB who is going to ECU, and Tray Jones, a LB who is going to Navy. Navy is mighty hard to turn down. We aren't even listed as having recruited Stringer for some strange reason. So when you break it down like that, it seems to me that Hampton Roads just didnt have the talent at the positions we needed this year that are G5 caliber players. I like to get the local guys too, and think you have to stockpile talent when you can, no matter the position, but apparently the coaches are being more strategic. At least I'll give them the benefit of the doubt at this point.

Man, we need some good news bad. Landing Mayo, Hill and Davis today would be just the thing.

Or maybe he didn't really have all of the offers he said he did. That's one of the problems with "offers." Coaches aren't allowed to comment, so it's hard to know the real truth.

If its not in by the morning, the kid is probably having serious doubts.

If we lose mayo, it will probably be the worst recruiting class we have ever had.

Fairfax county schools are closed today, not sure if that matters or not.

So if you think the kid made a bad choice given his offers why are you putting that on the RC? You're playing both sides of the fence.

Does not look good on the Mayo front. He had some big time offers, would not be surprised if he jumped. Only time will tell.
