He's a good coach. "looking" is a tricky word. I suggest checking back with us next year when you might have a better understanding of all of its meanings.

Not sure what you're implying.

He's saying that if Ruhle does well next year don't be surprised if someone comes calling. Even though he wasn't really "looking"

People called last year, they'll call now, and they'll call next year. I'm not really worried about that. Just have trouble seeing what would be a mutual fit for him to leave everything he has here.

Multiples of the salary he makes currently, the opportunity to play against great football teams in his own stadium that's more than one third full. Winning 10 games and not being stuck in a third tier bowl game against a terrible opponent. So pretty much most gigs in the P5 would be better than what he has now.

Billy explained it perfectly and the follow-ups followed up very well. Every fanbase feels the way you do. They are all wrong. We speak from experience.

If anyone wants to pay him multiples of $2.5M, they can have him.

Does Temple have a beautiful campus and state of the art practice and training facilities?

I went to the game "At Temple" (The Eagles Stadium). The Tony Luke's was good and the Temple fans at the restaurant were super friendly...

But Good Lord, you had 15,000 fans in a 70,000 seat stadium... and hardly any student section. It was not even close to what I would call a "college football atmosphere".

We played our home games two years ago at The Bengals stadium and it was miserable. Cold, sterile, hard and cavernous. Temple has the same problem, except that it is not "temporary".

What do you mean, "to leave everything he has here." What does Rhule have at Temple? Family connections in Philly?

Guess you won't have much trouble seeing a mutual fit now.

Ouch...that's a tough one. Baylor is in a moral conundrum right now and may have more legal issues as an institution/athletic department popping up soon. That's a tough loss.

He couldn't have put himself up on the tee any better.

Hilarious.

Well, this part of the thread was certainly unfortunately timed.

Yep. Feel bad for the Temple fan. Unfortunately we all know too well how the world really works.

True. I have to admit I literally LOL'd when I heard the news about Rhule and this thread was the first thing I thought of. The timing was absolutely unbelievable, but I decided not to rub it in as he really wasn't being a jerk, just naive. As I told him, we speak from experience (both coming and going) and now he knows too.

But ya know, a mea culpa and "gee you guys were absolutely right" post from him would certainly seem appropriate when he feels up to it. 07-coffee3

Maybe you should have torn his contract up a third time...might still be there.

I hope not. We need as many solid programs as possible. Of course, some needs to be a doormat. I'm happy having Tulane and UConn fill those roles in their respective divisions.

We were paying Rhule $2.5M a year. Unless we absolutely bungle the hire, why would that happen?

We can only hope our next coach is so successful that his offers are huge and numerous. We are officially a stepping stone in our current conference affiliation. Perhaps Mick is different - but even he last year danced with the devil. Far better success and stolen coach than ruin and a coach who has to resign.
