Damn straight! "Little SEC..." I like that.

East Carolina finally made it into the SEC

Remember 2 years ago when UCF was going to get invited to every conference at the same time and they were going to get to choose which conference they wanted to go to because they were so great and so hype and so awesome and they were the future and everyone wanted -- no -- needed them????

Then they went 0-12....aaaaand so now we're back.

But thank god GOL got that statue

I don't remember anyone saying UCF was going to choose which conference we wanted. The Big 12 talk wasn't even in the possibility at that time either.

I think Wyoming may have more than that for the MW CCG. CUSA at a dismal 13k.

EDIT: MW CCG. 24,001.

Looks like the MAC doubled us up, and nearly had more fans than both of us combined. Cannot argue with numbers. Well done MAC.

Wrong, before Friday's game the previous record was 28,085.

That record is now 45,615! Which easily beat the AAC and MWC championship games, combined! Well not easily. My math is way off. Combined the two games barely had over 46,000 in attendance.

Sorry boys.

I bet there are some USF style attendance recording shenanigans involved.

Nope. WMU AD reported Thursday morning over 46,000 tickets had been sold, which mean quite a few went unused. Ford Field does the reporting of attendance numbers not the conference schools. If you ever sit at a game at Waldo and guess the attendance, usually you are over guessing because WMU always reports a lower attendance than you would actually think. EMU on the other hand, they grossly report more than what are actually there. Attendance is spoken of way too much over on the MAC board, I know, because I got so sick of all the attendance talk, I posted the weekly attendance numbers this year.

There have been some pretty doggone good teams from the MAC including an undefeated Ball State and NIU squad that couldn't bring the fans to watch history. BGSU is closer to Detroit than WMU and they couldn't bring the fans. Even CMU is closer to Detroit but couldn't bring the fans. WMU alone blew out the attendance record. Ohio only brought 6,000 fans. Over 39,000 fans were WMU fans. Who care where the fans come from as long as they show up! After years of apathy I actually think it's great that WMU alumns and fans are actually showing up for the this team. I would feel the same way if I was a fan of any AAC team who's fans are fair weather fans.

Congrats to WMU for the great game and to the MAC for a large number of tickets sold and used. Instead of sour grapes, whining, and seeking fault, we should just congratulate a job well done by a worthy competitor. Congrats WMU.

MACC Announced attendance of 45,615 ... 1,500 short of the PAC12 game.

To be technical, the MAC game had more empty seats.

If the stadium in Santa Clara holds less the 66,500 seats, then yes, you're right. If it holds more than 66,500 than you're wrong. Ford Field has 65,000 seats. I just don't know and don't care to check.

I wholeheartedly agree.

While I know conference loyalties run deep and we should root for our conference mates when playing out of conference, being non-power schools, we understand where other non-power schools are coming from.

When Boise State began it's run, I was cheering them on because they were representing all of the G5 schools. Even though Northern Illinois routinely kicks our rears, I was rooting for them when they represented us all in the Orange Bowl. Hawaii, Fresno State, Houston, TCU, Utah and the list goes on. Anytime we can have an ending like Boise State vs. Oklahoma, it makes being a fan of a G5 school that much more fun.

Ha! Well, you are only $20 million a year, and 50,000 a fans a week behind. :-)

Ha! Well, we are miles ahead of you MWC tools; when was the last time you beat us in attendance and had conference footballl games on ABC with 3 million viewers? lmao

Not sure about the conference, but SDSU averaged over 37,000 this year. I am willing to bet that beat everyone not named ECU or UCF in the AAC

You lose. 2016 Houston avg home attendance: 38,952

Note that this does not include the season opener at NRG Stadium vs Oklahoma (71,016).

He loses again, too. Memphis averaged 37,346 in a year that didn't include Ole Miss (60K last year) or Navy (55K last year) on the home schedule.

Kudos to the MAC and Detroit Lions for moving so many tickets.

As for WMU fans crowing, you didn't sellout your small home stadium once all season. Average announced attendance was just 23,839.

Small? Waldo is the biggest stadium in the conference? 23,839 is a good MAC number. Make fun of them if you want, but it's even more reason why MAC schools shouldn't compete and we still do.

We have weather here! It was a blizzard for WMU against Buffalo... You don't get those in Tulsa or SMU. I'm aware there was a huricane this year that moved stuff around... I'm betting attendance was worse that week.

These markets are small and saturated with Big10 fans. PJ Fleck has been riding around campus giving WMU gear to students wearing UM and MSU gear on campus... The same here in Toledo. For the Ohio State - Michigan game, gameday did a 10 minute segment on the city of Toledo and how it's split for the border battle... We have stores in our city called the BuckeyeWolverine shop...

It's a problem in the AAC too I'm sure but not like it is here. Houston, Memphis, Orlando, Tampa etc are giant cities and large schools with more alums who support them compred to P5 brothers.

WMU still came out 2+ hours away more than Navy did to their own stadium... There is nothing anyone can say on the subject of CCG attendance in ways of smack against WMU.
