RE: Pearl Previews UAB
The injury to Eddins was really bad, but the team was good enough to overcome it. We also had a really good coach whose teams didn't play down to the competition and showed up to play every game. Man I miss those days..

Tomorrow night will be the first capacity crowd we've had in 5 years, and we needed Auburn fans to accomplish that. Outside of one shocking win in the NCAA tournament, it's not like UAB basketball has really been nationally relevant since about 2006. I know Auburn hasn't either but they can sell out games without scheduling us. We cant.
& they can sit at home during the NCAA tournament while we won't.

I look at it as a multi year deal against a pretty decent to good program on the rise, with a good, well-known coach. They also happen to be an old rival and instate team. Weve been very mediocre to slightly good nationally the past decade. Our conference sucks donkey balls. This is probably the best deal we could get. I don't get the griping.

I'm glad they didn't take the bad deal. I don't see this as a bad deal, considering our current place in the world of college basketball. We shouldn't allow ourselves to be shat on, but we also shouldn't expect the world or gripe at a deal like this. I also don't think it'd matter to a recruit if UAB took a 2 for 1 deal vs a home and home, etc. I think PT, quality of coaching staff, facilities, schedule/conference, prestige of the school, and relationships would matter a lot more than " oh no UAB took a neutral site game at the BJCC with Auburn." I think a recruit would have enough common sense enough to know that UAB just isn't in the same class when it comes to SEC teams. If that really matters to them, then they won't play for us. Oh well.
