Western Michigan: The Detroit News is reporting that WMU donors are hoping to increase PJ Fleck’s salary to the $1.5 million – $2 million range in a push to keep him in Kalamazoo. Fleck is already the highest paid coach in the MAC at $800,000 annually, more than $200,000 than the next highest paid head coach in the league.

But if he loses to toledo on saturday, he has not won anythng yet.

RE: PJ
Would you rather make $2 million at WMU or $2.5 million at Houston after their coach takes the Texas or FSU job.

PJ's losing a 4 yr starting RB, QB, and argueably the best WR in the history of the MAC. I think he's gone.

He is getting major play from both Purdue and Oregon, and I'm sure more "big time" jobs will open. Also, i'm sure he would take the Houston job if the others fall through.

I agree he is done at WMU, PJ and his assistants are loyal to each other and its time for the assistants to get paid also which I haven't heard a word about all of them getting a large raise. Let's say he gets a raise to 2 million a year and with a unproven QB and young Wr's they go 8-4 next year, how would that go over with the boosters that are paying him? He will be at Purdue soon.

Purdue can't afford much more than 2 mil a year either. Of course by going to a power 5 team he has the chance to win national championships or prove himself enough to move to the NFL.

This is the reason he should leave. I'm sure they have some players behind Terrell/Davis/Franklin, but this is the best opportunity he'll ever have to launch into the P5 coaching ranks

If he gets offered the Oregon job he should take that in a heartbeat. Could you imagine the recruiting he'd do w all the facilities and Nike gear there?

supposedly, Houston will not lose Herman due to money. It will be because Herman thinks he can win a national championship at Texas. Houston has a trustee worth like $5 bill

Phil Knight is like 76 and wants Oregon to win the championship and supposedly will pay $10mill a year. It won't be PJ. I think Les Miles has a Purdue interest. Having fired a MAC Coach, doubt they will go after PJ. Plus PJ has not won a MAC West title yet and Saturday vs Toledo is no sure thing. Toledo has no pressure. What is remarkable about out success was 6 title games with 4 different coaches.

If I were a coach I wouldn't take the Texas job or any SEC job for any amount of money. Those people are completely crazy.

There is really no downside in taking it. The problem with SEC jobs is the influence in the big money boosters that puts big pressure on the AD. No one will ever turn down Texas. Plus Austin is the only livable texas town for one of a more moderate view.

I agree about Oregon, actually seems like a good fit for PJ IMO. He would go crazy with all the sayings on different Nike apparel and the recruits would flock there.

after watching gameday, PJs antics could get old especially with upper class men. WMU has had a good season because they have good players. If they fall off next year that stuff gets real old fast. Plus when PJ leaves, does he take the row the boat schtick with him. Big programs have there own traditions.

Texas is the worst. Way to many knuckleheads with money and opinions. The school, the campus, the city ,the facilities are OUTSTANDING OUTSTANDING. But you are wrong no matter what you do there. ND love them or that , they have huge contributors, but they manage the egos. Texas is whore and changes based on the latest dollar bill.
