Pfieffer University Falcons
Division II*
2015-16 Record: 14-15
Conference Carolinas+: 10-10 (6th)
Returning Starters (3): Sr. G Andrew Guerrero; Jr. PG Josh Calhoun
2016-17 Record: 6-0 (2-0)

* Moving to Division III in 2017
+ Joining USA South Athletic Conference in 2017

The Pfeiffer Falcons were a middling D-II team last season, but it seems they decided to make their last year in D-II their best, if early returns are any indication. In their 6 wins this season, the Falcons have averaged 106.8 points per game, with an average margin of victory of +25.8. They've been even more dominant when you look at conference-only games, beating Southern Wesleyan 123-85 and Mount Olive 125-81 to start play in Conference Carolinas.

When looking at the stat sheet for Pfeiffer, what immediately explains why the Falcons are able to get up and down the court (they've attempted 80.0 shots per game...UNCW averages 65.0) is that they have a roster of 19 players, and Head Coach Jeremy Currier has used every single one of his available bodies this year. Senior guards AJ Clark and Andrew Guerrero are the only 2 of the 19 who have averaged more than 20 minutes per game. 7 others fall in the 10-19 minute range, and another 7 average at least 4 minutes. Thus, it seems that the Falcons tend to use a "hockey line shift" type of mentality all game, shuttling players in and out.

Leading the Falcons in scoring is Junior point guard Josh Calhoun, at 17.0 ppg. He's also shooting a healthy .424 from beyond the arc and .848 from the line. Clark (15.5 ppg) and Guerrero (14.5 ppg) follow Calhoun in the scoring department, and Senior guard Mike Smith (13.8 ppg) rounds out a quartet of Falcons averaging double figures.

It's safe to say this will be a high scoring affair, even if UNCW wins in a rout.

Let's hope so SN! It sounds like they play at an incredible pace! Keatts needs to get these guys ready for this one! It may sound nuts, but anytime a team is playing like that, it's a concern.

They sound like a bunch that potentially can put plenty of urine in your cereal bowl.

Wish we could have played this game last year, my neighbor played there. He transferred to Shaw.

He shouldn't have transferred! He could have been body # 20 pouring in tons of points for an undefeated team (till Saturday of course)!

He wasn't playing much. Honestly i think he was only recruited there because he's a 4.0 student. He's like 6'6 but raw.

Game 6.01 - Pfeiffer
This should be Div 1 win #50 for Coach Keatts. Just saw that on the UNCW Facebook post.

Ironic that they are playing D2 basketball today. On the other hand he wrote a letter to the students asking them to show for free pizza and a little basketball. This game will be over very quickly.
The last time I saw them play Benny Moss was playing.

You can get a D1 win by beating a D2 school?

Does everyone get a trophy after the game too?

I read the same article, it was his 50th win, not D1. College.

Game 6.01 - Pfeiffer
Pfeiffer is not a very large team but they do have a lot of bodies. They're rolling with a 4-guard lineup.

Game 6.01 - Pfeiffer
This might end up being one of the only games all year that we have the advantage in FT attempts.

All of you have been underestimating a very good offensive D2 team that has thus far given us fits. They've turned us over quite a few times already and they avg 29 a game.

All these fouls could could be very problematic late in the second half.

Game 6.01 - Pfeiffer
For the love of anything holy, can we please learn how to close out a half? We were up 10 and should have been slowing the ball down but we're content to play at this pace and put ourselves in ugly foul trouble while we let them hang around.
