He's not a good interview, and he can whine a bit after losses. But he does not take credit after wins; that's nonsense.

Still can't believe they won that game.

Listen more carefully. He usually talks about game plan & uses "I" a lot.

Comparing quotes is going to quickly spiral... but I feel its necessary to point out that throughout the postgame he credits his players's character and resolve for the win, and calls out Evan's & KJ for incredible performances that won the game. Check out the 3 minute mark.
If there is any where Mick can and should say "I" its the game plan.

RE: @ Iowa St. game thread
I just want to point out that my original post DID give Mick credit for a good post Iowa State game interview. This part of my post was edited out of payday's post quoting me:

"That was a very good MC interview but I have to disagree that he "always gives a great interview".

Everybody hears and interprets differently. In the past I have frequently been displeased with Mick's public statements. I hope this interview signals a new direction.

RE: @ Iowa St. game thread
I enjoy listening to Mick in an interview. I think he does a fairly good job of explaining things. Much better than Huggs anyways... who's favorite thing to say was "well chuck, we just weren't very good today". No matter what the team did.

As far as interviews vs. what i am seeing on the floor- I still think the guy needs someone to come in and take an objective view of what we were doing on offense. Mick will say we are doing this or that and the guys are buying in- stills seems the same ole Cronin ball to me. Everyone seems to think we could be better on offense than we are and that comes down to coaching. That being said the team is really really good on Defense and rebounding every year consistently, which is also due to coaching. It is what it is.

Wish someone could come in take an objective look at the offense and fix what needs fixin. Ain't gonna happen tho.

Iowa State lost @ Iowa last night 78-64. While we still have a good road win, it takes some of the luster away.

Winning on the road is hard. Iowa state is still a good team.

Yep. Their home court, non-conference winning streak was no fluke; they're very tough at home. That, and if UC had made just 3 more baskets that our scorers usually would knock down, the 'Cats win in regulation by a half dozen points or more.

I do think that's when the Bearcats really turn the corner. As great as the ISU win was it could have gone either way at the final buzzer just as several big games did last year. I really hope this UC team can assert itself on offense and begin winning these games prior to the buzzer. I'm very high on this Bearcat team's potential.

I REALLY want a win against Butler tomorrow. While a loss would not mean the end of the world, a win would set us up for a top-twenty match up against X. That game would be even more special! ...and hopefully more visible nationally.

There are a lot of games between now and the X game.

I'm with you on that. I know as fans we want to win them all but another road win against a top 25 in a very hostile arena, polishes the resume and keeps UC ranked--most likely way into January and beyond. And based upon last year's game we know UC can compete against the Bulldogs.

We're not being greedy; this is the kind of year we should believe the program has been building toward. Some school needs to carry the banner for the AAC this season and it looks like it's up to the 'Cats.

We need to beat Butler tomorrow. Our two OOC signature games so far are against one team no longer in the Top 25 ( R.I. ) and the other soon to be out ( Iowa St. ).

You're assuming Xavier will still be in the Top 20 03-wink

If UC beats Butler they will probably drop out as well.

Need to beat them regardless. Win that one and given the competition ahead, 5 of the next seven are absolute cupcakes and the other two we'll be favoured to take as well...as with most of the games in conference(maybe all of them).

At the end of the season, Winning at Iowa State will be a big feather, even if they weren't in the top 25.

The committee likely will reward UC for playing @ Iowa State and @ Butler and XU plus Rhode Island. Those are 4 good non-conference games and is 4 more than some of these cupcake eaters face.

And all that likely yields other dividends too. As UC's visibility rises, so does the likelihood of better holiday tournaments and made for TV matchups pre-conference in the coming years.
