See Where Two JUCO QB's are Suddenly on USM's Cruitin' radar...
Lack of faith in Keon?
Lack of faith Griggs will ever qualify?
Lack of faith in QB's ever staying healthy, so you need as many bodies as possible?

This is the exact opposite of what Munzly was saying in Wed's chat...

3-star QB Jordan Ta'amu N. Mexico Inst.
3-star QB McLane Carter Tyler (TX) CC

Hey, maybe it's just wishful thinking by the above student athletes...

Also, tons of 3-star RB's on 'cruitin' lists....so, again, looks like munzly's statement we are already LOADED at RB (and Woullard and Maberry may be our only potential Feb. signees) is not 'xactly true, either.04-cheers

Munz is little more than a shill for the USM athletic department. You can probably get better inside information at Dynasty Hair Salon on 4th and 25th.

QBs transfer if they don't get to play. You always need depth. I would try to go into every year with 5 on scholarship. Also, just because we offered 10 RBs months ago doesn't mean we would take them now. If a team is looking to take 2 players at a position in a year, they might offer 15 and they'll take the first 2 that commit. If you really want a guy, you'll usually take him and just go over at that spot. But I highly doubt we are actively recruiting many more running backs.

I can't imagine the NCAA approving such an activity.

Well, one 3 star RB from Niceville (FL) is visiting next month (hope he doesn't go to a MEN'S basketburl game03-lmfao)....and I KNOW 2 or 3 more 3 star RB's are considering USM..

These are NEW lists I'm using...some of the guys who originally said they were committing to USM need to BE committed, because the offer will NOT be there.04-cheers

That juco QB from New Mexico appears to be pretty badazz. The Hudl vid on him is a nice watch. Strong accurate arm, excellent downfield vision, and very good running ability.

We also have a verbal from a HS kid from Florida.

Coaching staff may not have seen what they wanted from Keon independent of the obvious turnover issues (which can be rectified).

Think you all are reading too much into it. Every school in the country signs at least 1 QB every year. Before Monken left he was on record as saying he was about to start signing 2 every year because of the way they transfer out these days.

I think some of it is they want to make sure we have another athletic QB on campus because if we are going the dual threat QB route (which it appears we are) we better have more than one guy that can run that type of offense. I think they like Keon but if that's the kind of offense we are going to run then we probably don't need Parker Adamson and some slow walk ons as our backups.

On a side note, I saw this week where we offered a 3 star DB from Niceville Juanyeh Thomas.

I've watched him all season and the kid can play. He'd be a great snag if we can land him.

Im happy to see offers to legit prospects, but its nothing to get excited about. We have offers on the table every year to great prospects. Getting them signed is the issue. We have over 40 offers to 3-star guys this year and a couple 4-star guys.

Depending on the scouting site, its a LOT more 3 and 4 star offers than mentioned above. 330 offers total, according to one of the sites.

I'm hopeful that Tyler Russell and Gavin Greene can help persuade the guy to go USM. They both played with him.

In regards to the QB recruits, we will have 4-5 QB's on the team next year with a combined 2 D1 starts. My guess is that the coaching staff wants to bring in some JUCO QB's who can compete and bring some experience (even if at JUCO level) to the group.

Griggs looked decent during the spring game but it is in question whether his grades ever improved or if he will still be involved with the program.

eh, Keon looked ok. Fumbled a lot. He was nothing to get excited about. but then again, that's exactly what I said about Nick Mullens prior to last years first game. He proved me and a lot of people wrong. We definitely need a solid QB. This year we saw first hand that it makes all the difference in the world.
