In CV California that assumption would be a horrible bet. In Redding, maybe 50/50. On the coast, a sure thing.

That's such a weird statement. You think evil people are only be mean to ugly people? Dude you ain't wired right.
I hope/think that what he meant was that the 'couldn't find a buyer for sex trafficking' was off-base... and beating up someone whom you wanted to traffic was bad business.... but couldn't find a way to say it without sounding creepy... so it came across weird instead. I need a shower just from typing that.

The spouse passed a lie detector test.

Lots of liars pass lie detector tests. Not saying he is guilty but the spouse is ALWAYS the first suspect.

That's true but if he was willing to take a lie detector test it could also mean that he wasn't involved and wanted her found ASAP.

The woman is absolutely adorable. Who in their right mind would want to hurt a woman that looks like that?

An evil person can't be swayed by beauty?

that's plausible....the kidnappers were women....

The branding thing rings another bell, don't recall why.

Maybe they were attempting to sell her into sex trafficking? Looking for a highest bidder and got no takers?

I vaguely seem to recall girls/women being found overseas after managing to escape that had either tattoos or crude burn marks that served as a marking/tracking system as to who or what group they "belonged" to.

Dunno, just another possibility. One that would "make sense" as far as what was going on, not that it may have happened of course.

This. Sex traffickers brand their victims. This is one theory thats out there. They thought that she was a teenager, so they abducted her for sex trafficking, but then they found out she was too old so they let her go.

Why would they torture her, starve her, and beat her up then? Would you buy services from an 85 pound escort with cuts and bruises all over her body?

Well, the weight thing may have been her. She could refuse to eat as her only means to fight back, who knows. And maybe the beatings were trying to force her(?). All speculation.

Im going with something that she and her husband are not going to let anyone know about. They pissed off the wrong people somehow and she paid the price for it. This looks like punishment for something IMO.
