Both have LAX, Bentley have hockey, but Southern New Hampshire does have club hockey which they could make it a varsity sport. Bentley and Merrimack would add more football programs into NEC which they do need more members.

I heard Southern New Hampshire wants to play Internet based D-1 sports to fit their student base.

NJIT should offer hockey, then America East might give them precedent.

NJIT is putting up $250,000,000 3500 seat events center.
They are already #1 in division 1 in terms of the sports budget financed by student fees.
Big problem the school is going crazy in getting research funds to cover the excessive expenditure

The last thing they need is a hockey team.

$250 MILL for a 3500 seat arena is crazy. In the Plains States, the cost would be a tenth of that.

Lots of friends to take care of

Just as an example, UND had a new 12k hockey arena built from $108m, with much of the inside lined with marble, brass and brick, plus leather seats and an attached Olympic sized rink with seating. NHL players are amazed at the rink. Later, a 3200 seat bball attached arena with much of the same architectural style was built for $8 mill. Granted that was early 2000 costs and land was previously owned, but NJ costs are obscene.

RE: Merrimack College Going to D1?
Now there are rumors that several D2 Texas schools, a couple of Colorado schools, Utah, a couple of California schools and a Washington school are looking to join D1. I read on another site these possible teams beside Texas A&M-Commerce, Kingsville, Tarleton State and Cal.-San Diego talking about going to D1. Reading that Humboldt State, Azusa Pacific, Dixie State, Central Washington, Colorado Mesa, Colorado State-Pueblo, Midwestern State, Angelo State and West Texas A&M want to go to D1. Since the Big Sky and Southland Conferences are filled up? You wonder if they are gunning to join the WAC to help start an FCS WAC football.

Central Washington/Seattle
Dixie State/Utah Valley
Azusa Pacific/Grand Canyon U.
Humboldt State/Bakersfield State
New Mexico State (olympic sports)/West Texas A&M
Midwestern State/Tarleton State
UTRGV/Angelo State
UMKC/Lindenwood
Chicago State does not have a travel partner.

Dixie State $10 million donation and upgrading their stadium

http://www.kcsg.com/view/full_story/2717...r-donates-

http://www.sltrib.com/home/3836718-155/d...nging-name

http://www.sltrib.com/news/3764475-155/d...-non-rebel

I read somewhere the seatings will be between 14,000 to 15,000. Would be a great size stadium for FCS, and bigger than Eastern Washington's. The second link shows the drawing for the new stadium renovation which screams D1.

California Baptist I forgot.

Azusa Pacific has one more year to go to be 8 years at D2.

Central Washington already plays D1 club hockey, rugby and LAX. They could bring some of the teams up to varsity status like hockey.

Colorado Mesa is already D1 in beach volleyball.

Several schools in Lone Star does have D1 type facilities to move up. Many on the list are doing renovations to move up Central Washington have goals to get to 30,000 + students by 2020. As these schools move up? They could be ready in case schools from MVFC, Summit, Southland and Big Sky schools get a call up to FBS in the future. The schools get the call up by the WAC now could be ready to move to these other conferences when they would be eligible to play in post season by then.

NJIT wasted $250 million on an events center and is number 1 in % of athletic events funded by student fees. They play in the Atlantic sun, where the nearest school is 750 miles away.No more DUMB moves by the NJIT adimns and wasting more funs on a ice hockey team.
