Fertitta keeps ringing this bell.

Holgorsen is a candidate.

I wonder if he's setting up a Eff You Big 12 argument. "We aren't good enough for you? Well, after beating your champion earlier this year, we just hired the coach of your second place team. We're good enough for him. Deal with that."

There's one reason and one reason only they went public.....the ACC and ESPN announcing it's network and GOR extension. At that point the Big XII had to do something to distract from the fact that they were the weakest P5 conference structurally. Sad thing is that the very thing that causes the structural weakness of the Big XII led to the dog and pony show that was the on and off expansion drama and made the Big XII look even weaker than it already did.

RE: Houston's Fertitta rips Big 12
I would like to see the other P5 conference do this.

PAC 12 offers BYU, Boise State, Hawaii, New Mexico, Colorado State and UNR a special contract agreement like ACC did with Notre Dame. Boise State could have a tie in as a PAC 12 team this year, but being Independent could help out. MWC could backfill with Sacramento State, Portland State, Eastern Washington, Montana, UTEP, North Dakota State and South Dakota State to 14.

Big 10 could do the same with Cincinnati, UConn., UMass., Northern Illinois, Buffalo and Stony Brook.

ACC could do the same with Temple, NAVY, Old Dominion, USF and Houston.

SEC can do the same with Memphis, East Carolina, SMU, Arkansas State, Tulane and Tulsa.

That means many schools will be playing musical chairs, and many FCS call ups for SBC, MAC, MWC, C-USA and maybe a couple for AAC that fits their conference. This is a way to kill off the Big 12 to make them even weaker for not adding schools when they had the chance. Even PAC 12 would take a chance on Boise State when Big 12 will not.

Now even you know nothing like that will ever happen
