Admittedly I'm biased, but I'll lay this one at the feet of one Todd Grantham. I mean ... it's been a while since I've seen the straight up wildcat do so much damage.
There's several reasons for the loss. Quick dropping a TD pass that hit him in the numbers just before the half, turnovers & UK making our defensive secondary look like Swiss cheese throughout the game with a QB that isn't supposed to be good with the pass. Our D wasn't quite Pitt/Syr bad but that's an awfully low standard. The defense couldn't get off the field on 3rd downs. I agree with GT, Grantham & our defense were the biggest reasons for the loss.
No, Lamar Jackson doing too much is why you lost. The kid is talented but you have to understand situational football. Run the clock out and kick a field goal to sill it. Instead he got too flashy and turned it over.

I must be charitable and assume that you are just making a bad joke.

I'm just curious, but could it be a hang-over from the loss to Houston?
I don't think so. The offense rebounded well from Houston. Our defense has statistically been in a decline following the Clemson game. Injuries has played a part there. I think it comes down to poor senior leadership judging by the way the players were talking on social media. I think they lost their focus. Teams like FSU & Clemson have been there before & know how to handle it, this team didn't have the discipline. I think they will be back to playing at their highest level for the bowl game, having a chance to physically & mentally recover.

Johnson, the UK QB, had a career day passing. He came into the season as the backup. Our LB consistently over pursued the football on run plays & the secondary left holes big enough to drive a truck through while giving up multiple big plays. For example, the 75 yd TD play on their first play of the game. They never sealed those holes. The second play after the fumble they gave up a pass to midfield, if they don't do that then UK settles for OT. LJ fumble ultimately was the play that cost UL the game & your right he should have just gone down but the poor defensive play made him press the offense to keep up all game long. Pointing to one individual for the loss when the whole team made costly mistakes, which just eliminating 1 of those & the result would have been reversed, isn't fair. Louisville was a 27 point favorite, it shouldn't have come down to a last minute drive in the first place. Just look at UK 3rd down conversion %! There's plenty of blame to go around & you need to give UK credit as well.

Not if Ron Cherry is the ref.

Here's some interesting & telling stats. In Louisville wins they have gotten 27 sacks, they have 1 in their 3 losses. In their wins they have gotten 73 TFL's while only 11 in their losses. When Louisville defense hasn't gotten pressure on the QB they have lost. This lends credence to GTS's assertion about Grantham.
