The evening’s host, Keegan-Michael Key (half of the duo making up TV show “Key & Peele,” he also starred in this year’s indie “Don’t Think Twice”), joked at the beginning of the show that he had missed the election and had written his monologue before the results, assuming Hillary Clinton had won. The act only got a small number of laughs.

Damian Lewis presented the audience award by saying, “The film that receives the most votes is the winner. What a brilliant idea,” referring to Donald Trump winning the Electoral College to win the presidency but Clinton winning the popular vote.

Comedian Nick Kroll got in on it as well when he presented the best actor award: “Gentlemen, if you don’t win, take solace in the fact that you didn’t win because the Russians interfered in ways we don’t understand,” he said.

Ethan Hawke received one of the tribute awards of the evening, and in talking backstage with Business Insider, he didn’t hold back on what he thinks about President-elect Trump.

“The great thing is the artistic community is given a huge opportunity,” Hawke told Business Insider. “Whenever faced with fascism, the artistic community generally rises to the occasion.”

Butthurt Hollywood crybabies. It is about time they got a wakeup call.

I like actors (or don't) based on if they can portray a character well. I don't care a twit about their political leanings and frankly, wish they would stick to their craft. It takes away from their portrayals of characters when I've seen some of their moonbat thinking - I can't help but see Tom Cruise the scientologist now when he's trying to portray some action hero or Barbara Streisand. etc. as loony leftists. Almost all of them live in a bubble and haven't a clue how most Americans live - so out of touch with real life......

In the end, I believe it hurts their brand. They are free to express their political opinions, but I'm of the opinion it hurts them more often than not......

Hollywood will rise to the occasion by releasing even more terrible movies.

They need to show their Liberal streak in order to get more acting jobs. It's that simple. If they don't toe the line they'll get hell from the press as seen with the Gaines.

Fascism is a meaningless term in 2016.

Now I'm for him getting all the opposition this country can muster if it's within reason.

I think both terms are dumb for America's current conversation, because all of those people you named had qualities that we would consider both conservative and liberal if you laid each individually on a table.

Economically they were ultra left wing with cultural tweaks. Socially, they were very much on the right.

If Castro had different economic ideals, he would've been in Reagan's office as our closest ally no matter how many civilians he had killed.
