MACTION ratings much lower this year
http://www.sportsmediawatch.com/college-...tv-ratings

I am glad we have a contract until 2026. MAC TV ratings were much lower than prior years. I am sure there are reasons (national election, world series involving MAC area teams) but whatever, the numbers were down in 2016.

Also- love those CUSA games on Bein- I saw 2 of them were they said they had 2K fewers. I think that is less than the typical ESPN3 broadcast.

Yeah, this is no surprise. Not just the World Series, but games six and games seven of the WS... and it was the CUBS! Plus an election with DJT. This is no surprise and I don't think it's necessarily a bad sign of anything.

WS putting up record ratings and the election certainly were probably the 2 biggest factors. I think you are starting to see more and more conferences jump in on the mid-week games which would hinder the MACtion ratings as well.

One thing is good, though. NFL may phase out Thursday night football after 2017 according to published reports. Too much exposure; low quality games.

Also, other than WMU did we have a team which was a real draw?

Did we have many marque match ups? Our best game was last Friday (WMU/TOL).

For what it's worth, the NFL came out and denied the reports that they were thinking about getting rid of Thursday Night Football and stated that they are fully committed to it.

I think part of it this year was the matchups also.

Other than those of us who follow MAC teams closely (and people who bet on the games), I don't think too many average fans were all that intrigued by some of the games this year on Tuesday, unfortunately.

I'm not sure how big of a deal matchups were. Sure there weren't many great matchups, but how is that different from most years?

College and NFL are starting to feel the pain from oversaturating their products. This is becoming a global issue to both college and pro

And of course NIU was bad, which has had the top ratings in the last 3 yrs due to its recent success.
