Lord, have mercy....it's finally a W.

I'm taking one positive away from this game - Jonathon Nichols. Precious little else.

Folks, this ain't gonna cut it week after week.

You are right, LRRebel. This ain't gonna "Cutt" it on a weekly basis. If Buttsniffe thinks God's in his heaven and all is right with the world, he's got another think coming.

Hey, Wry, I'm LOL about the "secret weapon." I guess Butts planned this all along! He's a regular James Bond! 03-lol

Right you are LR. If we don't dramatically improve, we are going to have many sad Saturdays this year. This game was just awful and we are very lucky that our kicker has the leg he has.

Let's hope this is our shakeout game... I'm glad to be 1-0 in the SEC, but we've got to improve all but the kicking game. And soon. Like by Monday...

Klutz just said that he really wasn't sure he wanted to do what he wanted to do when he used our "secret weapon". Meaning, I guess, that the secret was a secret to Klutzcliffe too.

Arrrgh.

"We are going to have to be much better next week". Klutzcliffe. 03-razz

Of course the sad thing is that our secret weapon is no longer secret, except maybe to the coaching staff of our team.

Well, one thing to remember is that Vandy has traditionally played us fairly close in Nashville, but this one was hard to listen to. Granted, I was working the whole time and had to listen off and on. I heard a lot of mistakes, but things that can and must be fixed. While we aren't pleased with the fact that we only won by three, let's think about the fact that we still have eleven games to play. Also, we have two very winnable games up next, and then a bye week to work on things.

I continue to give Cutt the benefit of the doubt...but it's time to turn the corner. He's really going to feel the heat if that doesn't happen this season.

Oh well, let's give it up for the kickers this week! 03-lol 04-cheers

Thanks, LR. I must say I'm surprised at the evenness of the stats. (Let's not look at the first half numbers, though. :) It seemed much worse while it was happening!

Well, judging from the posts, I'm kind of glad I missed that game. Too busy running hither, thither and yon, grading papers and whatnot.

Jonathan Nichols is the best kicker we've had since Brian Lee (wasn't that the one that scored the only points of the Gator Bowl vs. Michigan?). Let's just hope he's on this year, all year. Apparently, we'll need him.

JBR, trust me, be glad you were otherwise occupied during the fiasco, errr, game. I just knew we were gonna rack up a loss. It's got to get better after this! :saber:

'Twas truly ugly, JBR. As Dorothy put it, it put one in mind of the Steve Sloan days.

I think you are right about Brian Lee. But today this kicker hit two 50+ yarders, and this is a new record for Ole Miss.

I also missed the game today. It was my mom's birthday and I just got occupied with that. I listened to bits and pieces on the radio and judging from that, and what I see here...I am thoroughly disgusted. To not be able to cover a TD spread at the half is very upsetting. I know it's the first week and that the most important week of the season comes right now between the first and second games. However, it will be a helluva long fall if things continue in this manner.

I will be in Mempho this weekend - hopefully to see the Rebels kick a tiger in the a*s. I hope I don't have to sit there in anguish for the entire game and I refuse to leave a game like so many of our counterparts did last night in Starkville.
