From the ODU board
Let the smack and hard feelings begin.

EMU... sigh. I know they're a better team and it will probably be a good game; it's great for the players who've earned it and we're actually IN a BOWL game... BUT nationally this thing is a dead end. If you weren't an ODU fan this is 1 pm Friday game between a school no one knew had a football team and team who's most famous for being laughed at for not getting through a stack of cinderblocks to get to their weird colored field. At least people have heard of UCF.

Well, EMU will be used to playing in an empty stadium, could be an advantage for them.

I really do hate to keep complaining (it's great for the kids), but as a fan it just keeps getting worse.

RE: From the ODU board
We were minutes away from beating them last season (a year in which we were 1-11). Laughable that they think they are on some pedestal.

Most people have never even heard of Old Dominion, let alone heard of their football team.

Nah, we don't think we're on a pedestal. But personally I do wish we were playing someone we hadn't played before as I'm sure you do.

I think it's more the fact that we've played y'all twice already. We are probably more upset about the location then the opponent.

ODU thinks they are somehow relevant. Who the F are they? I say our boys go hand their azz to them and make them swim home.

Yeah, ODU, that football powerhouse with the sold out stadium. 01-wingedeagle

This is perfect, another team looking down their noses at us.

Totally blew it last year, so this is a great game for us, even though their fans don't seem to like. Tough to get motivated for these games, so maybe our guys can use the 'revenge/redemption' mentality to make up for last year's close loss. A win over a good, improved team that beat us last year, would certainly show that we're making real progress. A win should also set high expectations for next year, and serve as great motivation heading into the off-season.

They are a good team, but play more to our defensive strength as a run first team.

On the year EMU 1898 rushing/ 3549 passing yards.
ODU 2353 rushing/ 2854 passing

As always, if Roback plays well and doesn't turn the ball over, we should be able to outscore these guys, and win in a close one.

Respect. Many of our fans are upset about the location too. And I understand wanting to play a bigger name (AAC) opponent.

I recognize not all ODU fans are talking smack. Look forward to the game, and to all the fans who respect us, good luck and enjoy the game.

Overall their comments are pretty complimentary. Let's keep it friendly and go get the win. Big accomplishment for both teams.

Agreed. I wonder if we have any EMU fans here in Hampton Roads? I know there was a small contingent here when we played. It would be fun to watch the game together. Well maybe it would....04-chairshot

Honestly Frank, EMU and ODU is lucky not to be playing against an AAC opponent the likes of Houston, UCF, USF, Tulsa, Navy, Memphis, etc.

All of the teams above would likely smash both of us. I follow college football closely and those teams have better athletes across the board, and wide open offenses. Navy is Navy, almost impossible to stop, they just hung 75 on SMU to end the season and scored TD's on 10 straight possessions!

I personally feel like this couldn't have worked out any better for the players and the program.

Getting the win would be the cherry on top.

People have been flaming us and the program for six months prior to the season. Players and staff exceeded expectations and met their goals except one: Win a bowl game. Want to see mission accomplished.

As far as ODU comments, people have underestimated us for a long time, it just gives us something else to prove.
