It's not your fault, but this post caused me to see once again see the truly awful screed five posts above it. :(
Oh my-sorry, I forgot about that horror..........

RE: Bailiff Retained
I think you have to also look at the situation when Dr K started here. Bailiff was very successful to that point even though he had some strange losses every year. He had no choice but give him a new contract but the structure of the contract is probably in queston, However, this was his first AD job also. I am sure he knows he made a mistake. I am willing to give him a pass since he made two great hires in basketball. I have a feeling JK will be very involoved who will be hired as the new DC, if any. I never wanted to keep anybody around who wanted to be somewhere else, nor anyone whom I wanted to be somewhere else. And that was also a negotiation, and maybe Bailiff insisted on the large buyout. That would be a red flag for me, but as Rick noted, we weren't privy to those negotiations, so how would we know.

The problem is, most of us gave him a pass on the extension, even though it was an egregiously bad idea. But retaining him now is a second decision, one which seems even more egregiously bad.

RE: Bailiff Retained
About the body size issue, Baliff played lineman at SW Texas back when lineman were starting to get much larger than they had before. In the early 1970s, a 240 lb lineman was big in the SWC and they did not carry much fat. JK was a former track man and being thin is good in track. Wayne was a baseball player and speed is important in baseball.
GoodOwl might brag about his health now but he will ultimately get old and find out it is not the same as it used to be unless something worse happens and he does not make to old age. I found that out after I turned 60.
I went to the Texas Bowl and I agree that we are no longer competitive with K State or A&M in football. Both bands were good. Texas destroyed the SWC and probably will also destroy the Big 12 in the future. Texas can not stand to be in a conference of equals.

Is 2017 the last year on his contract? (12-29-2016 01:23 PM)Ranger Wrote: (12-29-2016 11:40 AM)OldOwl Wrote: I think you have to also look at the situation when Dr K started here.
