Parallels to 2008
In 2008 Ball State ended their regular season with a perfect 12-0 record including a win against a lower level Big 10 team (Indiana). BSU was by far the best MAC team that year. That year's East division champ (Buffalo), led by a coach with Nebraska ties (Turner Gill), had a less impressive record (7-5) and was a prohibitive underdog for the championship.

What happened? Ball State **** the bed in the MACC, fumbling four times and throwing an interception that led to a 42-24 loss. Their coach left for greener pastures a few days later and they went on to lose their bowl game 45-13.

I hope this doesn't happen because it would be great for the MAC to get that New Year's Day slot but I found the parallels interesting.

RE: Parallels to 2008
funny, i was just talking to someone about that over the holiday. totally agree, great comparison. however, since PJ has "elite" character, and wont talk to other teams until after the MACC, this couldnt possibly happen to the broncos could it? its PJ job to convince the players that he isnt jumping ship and keep them focused this week. I think the broncos will blow out ohio (especially since i think a ton of WMU fans will be there), but you never know

Ohio has the D but not the O to come away with a victory.

As annoying as PJ is, every time a MAC team crashes into to big party it just makes it easier for the next MAC team. You don't hear Herb Kirkstreet criticize WMU like like he did to us. EMU ti Bahamas Bowl?

2008 Ball State and 2011 Houston are classic examples of a team disintegrating on Championship Week because the coach was heavily distracted.
