Reed Green - bar/restaurant walking distance?
Any bars or restaurants within walking distance to Reed Green Coliseum? Headed to the South Alabama game Wednesday night and will be getting to Hattiesburg early. Looking for a place to have a few beers then walk over

Thanks

Thanks stink. How about a popular bar/restaurant in town not necessarily walking distance. Again looking for a good spot to eat/drink before the game.

End Zone works in any case. You can walk if necessary. One relatively close restaurant- go west on 4th Street (the street the coliseum is on) and look for Patio 44 about a half mile past 38th Ave intersection on your left. Good food there.

There's always Crescent City Grill/Mahogany bar at corner of 38th and Hardy.

Is brewsky's no good? It is right next to Strick's. Applebee's on Hardy is the closest place to the Coliseum. It's only about 6 blocks away.

The End Zone is a must. Ask Chad (Perennially voted the second best bartender in Hattiesburg) to see the list of Single Malts and Cognacs. He'll claim not to have any but tell him Chris Leonard sent you. Have Fun !!

Brewsky's is an event venue. Not open all the time.

Applebees's is across campus and some apartments. Plus it is Applebee's.

If I were walking and wanted a sports bar with good food I would go to EZ.

Hell I would go to EZ anyway.

Marlins is good too. My daughter works there. Stop by and leave her a big tip.

Thanks in advance.

Brews is mostly a student hangout.

It closely favors a dive in a dump of a strip mall, you can easily go right by it.

Go to the end zone. Nice dive bar. Real good food and very cold beer. Get the chicken nachos, you won't finish them. And it's not a mile from the coliseum, more like a quarter of a mile but it's a pleasant walk alongside our campus and you even have a convenient sidewalk to accompany you the whole walk to Reed Green. Marlins is across HWY 49 and a much longer/dangerous walk since you'll have to cross a busy highway.

I've never been, but Marlins strikes me as one of those trashy tourist places you'd see in a town like PCB or Myrtle Beach.

Thanks again to everyone who's replied. I really appreciate it.

It sounds like End Zone is the best spot for us. We'll be there tomorrow between 4-6 if anyone's up for a pre game beer. Not sure how many Jag fans will be making the trip but I'll suggest we all meet up at End Zone on the USA board.

By the way... when you step into the Yurt take in the old school ambiance and nostalgic feel of the place. We've decided that we like the retro look here at USM complete with two 1960's high school scoreboards!
