Why did we take a knee on second and five, leaving us with third and five, which, of course, we couldn't convert. Am I missing something? So instead of being able to grind it out and snatch victory from the jaws of defeat, we have to give the ball back to the 'Dores...

how did we manage to win that thing?

I will say this: It's good to come from behind and win like that - they'll carry that forward, hopefully. Better than last year when we dominated them and all but gave it away after locking it up.
But this ain't gonna cut it!

I can't wait to hear Klutzcliffe's comments about this game. Anybody think he is even aware of these coaching mishaps?

no doubt.... I must say, we gave VU every possible chance to take that game. Bad part is - we have to play Doster and Cutler 2 more years! They're both freaking sophs!

Don't you almost feel sorry for Vandy? They really should have had this one.
What about the two penalties for failing to put seven men on the O line? Now, that was deja vu to the Sloan era. Remember all those penalties for too many men on the field? Geez, this is kindergarten arithmetic, not rocket science. :girl:

Wry, I response to your question, "Is he even aware..." I don't think he is aware of much. I think Butts is indulging in industrial strength pharmaceuticals, or he is mentally deficient. Maybe it's a little bit of both.
I'm afraid David Kellum is succumbing to Buttsniffe's Syndrome, as well. A few minutes before kickoff he announced breathlessly that Ole Miss was about to face off against Vanderbilt, who was undefeated! Duh.

That should have been "in response to your question." I had to indulge in, hhhm, alcohol to survive this game. I don't remember when I've felt so negative about a win. :frown:

I was workin' for da man, so I couldn't indulge in any adult beverages. :frown:
I can think of a win I felt worse about. The first game of the '97 season against Central Florida. We went to overtime, scored and went up 24-17. UCF scores, then goes for two. The only reason we won the game was because Daunte Culpepper, who had a wide open running lane, slipped and fell.
That one was worse...not to mention how friggin hot it was that night.

Wiz, I hope tonight you can make up for lost time. By the way, I like "Colonel Rebel for Chancellor." I'd put that bumper sticker on my car. So, whom can we promote for A.D.?

That may be so. I know one thing, though, and that is that one or two more games like this against teams we should clobber will certainly send me to the medicine cabinet.
Maybe Kellum and Klutz had one before the game.

Yeah, Wiz, I remember that game too. It was a shame for the Knights, because they played us tough and played better than we did. They would have won it but for Culpepper slipping on the turf. I know what you mean about feeling pretty sick about that win, even though I was glad to have it.

I was pretty sick about last year's close call with Vandy, too. . .

I agree, JBR. (Do you mind if I call you JBR? I feel as if I've known you forever. LOL) Life is full of opportunities for stomach aches, ulcers, rising blood pressure, etc., without having to sweat out a nail-biter with the Bookworms year after year. And that is just the tip of the iceberg.

We had # "three" penalties for that reason - didn't we??? Well anyway, the kneel down was when Eli was trying to catch the noseguard "off sides" but our "experienced center" LET THE GUY GET BACK AND GET SET - before he snapped the ball.
