Poll: Preferred Tiebreaker Method for Pick'em Champion
ecuacc4ever and the other former champions determines the champion based on data and analytics
the person with the most "1st place" finishes through the season
we select a game from this week's slate and use "total points" as a tiebreaker
use next week's Army/Navy game (total points)
some other method (PM me)

2016 ACCbbs Football Pick'em -- Championship Week is OPEN
http://sportsfan.decro.net

This is it -- we've reached the final week of the critically acclaimed 2016 ACCbbs Football Pick'em.

First -- (and I believe I speak for copycat)...
THANKS! to all of you who participated. It was our pleasure to once again bring this to you.

It's down to ken d, batonrougeescapee and maybe even copycat (depending on how the picks play out) to determine who will be the 2016 Pick'em Champion.

I have played a poll on this thread to determine a tiebreaker method in the likely event of a tie for first place after this weekend:

- ecuacc4ever and a small committee determines the champion based on data and analytics
- the person with the most "1st place" finishes
- we select a game from this week's slate and pick the total points
- use the Army/Navy game (total points)
- some other method (PM me)

Kudos go to both Lucy and copycat as each has finished in 1st place 4 times this season.

For the last time this season, go and make your picks!!!

:)

Other than wins and losses, what other data and analytics are there?

I can provide the following data to a committee:

a) Average weekly rank
b) Average correct (you can do that one easy)
c) Head-to-head comparison

With a little time, I can actually dig into how the affected players performed when picking winners when (seemingly) everyone else picked the opposite -- for instance, I was the only person with the balls to pick Kentucky last week.

So, there's data that we could analyze... :)

Seems inappropriate to me to retroactively apply a standard which, if known at the time, might have led a player to follow a different strategy (like picking more underdogs).

What tiebreakers were used in the past?

What's wrong with leaving it as a tie if they have the same number correct?

Leave it a tie. There is no prize to be won other than bragging rights. If you insist on breaking the tie, pick a game (ACC Championship since this is the ACC board) and do the total points.

If we're breaking the tie it needs to be done "on the field".

Nothing, except I would prefer a crowned champion.

Keep the votes coming :)

Can you have them pick a score for the ACC championship game? The closest to the actual score wins? If they somehow tie there then go to the SEC CCG?

If I'm tied for first you declare the other person the winner and me second place. All will be right with the world. As for the rest... I dunno. 03-lmfao

It's been great picking games every week. ecuacc4ever and I try to find the most interesting non-conference games every week. This week was tough as there are only 16 games!

Even as defending champ and a potential "committee member", I vote for total points in ACC title game.
