Rice is 125 in Massey and 155 in Sagarin.

By comparison, the oft discussed and still cringeworthy 1-10 season of 2005 resulted in a Sagarin of just 135.

This is a historic, truly historic, level of ineptitude.

The combined record of Rice's 2005 opponents was a gaudy 79-52 (.603).

This year's 11 FBS opponents are 66-64 (.508).

Doing some more comparisons. Using the Massey combined ratings to review some other less than stellar years

Year (Record) - Rank
1982 (0-11) - 102 out of 113
1987 (2-9) - 86 out of 104
1988 (0-11) - 90 out of 105
2005 (0-11) - 111 out of 119
2009 (2-10) - 108 out of 120
2016 (3-9) - 125 out of 128

Looks like Bailiff has led us to depths we never saw before.

thanks for that info.

Beating cream puffs isn't impressive (to all but maybe a couple of people on this board). Losing to them is even worse.

Comparing Rice in Massey to the midpoint of the number of teams. We have exceeded that midpoint ONCE and that was in 2008.

NOTE: Scale is inverted. The higher on the y axis, the better the team.

Amazing you can go 0-11 and there are still teams that sucked worse than Rice. The power of the stats.

Rice was 1-10 in 2005, not 0-11. The competition was much stronger in 1988 than it was in 2005, though.
