We really can't complain too much as App was likely the largest driving force for adding CCU.
UNCG, no thanks.
Andy, you gotta get past that SoCon prejudice and consider what's best for App. Name another non-football school within 3 hours of Boone that's a better choice. Don't think we were a driving force behind their admission.
I don't really want another non-football school. UNCG brings nothing to the conference other than reduced travel, meh.
App was the school that convinced Ark St who then spear headed the western approval of CCU, I think we led the charge there.
The ASUs may have the two most influential ADs in the conference currently.

If this conference wants 12 for football it has a funny way of showing it. 2 football-only members were perfect for that -- we balanced out the non-FB schools, didn't jumble up your revenue from basketball or other sports and paid you guys travel subsidies. But the Sun Belt didn't want that, so it seems unlikely you're looking to expand anytime soon given the available candidate pool.

I think SBC should hang on to my pals out West and be realistic but patient about the future realignment of many conferences. But, I'm just a simpleton.

Davidson. They're easily the best non-football school within maybe a six- or seven-hour radius of Boone.
Of course, you meant a school the SBC could actually get. No way they'd leave for any league other than the Big East.
I'd put UNCW as a more attractive non-football school than UNCG, but they're farther than the 3-hour radius, too. Besides, I'm doubtful UNCG would have interest in the SBC over staying in the SoCon or holding out for the Colonial.
All in all, there is no reversing decisions already made, and I'm personally very happy Coastal Carolina was chosen over EKU, Liberty, or the hypothetical UNCG or UNCW (who also wouldn't likely leave the Colonial for the SBC, anyway). Coastal is pretty darn far for a "travel partner," and that's a fair point. They're not much closer, if at all, than Georgia State is. But they are excellent from an all-around athletics standpoint, and they help meet the interests of the conference as a whole much better than any of the non-football options closer to Boone.
Really the only thing that would make sense would be for geographic realignment between the Sun Belt and C-USA. After three years, it's still ridiculous to me, with nothing at all against the fine programs in the western part of our league, that we are in a conference with Texas and Louisiana schools but not Charlotte, ODU, and Marshall, while those schools share a conference with UTEP and three other Texas schools. But that is another topic altogether.
They could potentially be swayed to the SBC if they ever decided to upgrade from D-IAA non-scholly to FBS...but that's probably not likely. They'd sure bring some roundball greatness to the Belt though.

Davidson has no desire to be anywhere except where they are (not counting BE)
The only UNC team I could see that would step away from their conference would be UNCA. They're good at bouncy ball and okay enough in Baseball.

The SB Commissioner. We have a few mutual friends. He comes by our tailgate whenever he's in town for an App game.

We need to have this game next year! There is no reason not too.
With Coastal coming in next season I dont think they can play in a Sunbelt Title Game but why cant we just have the #1 east team play the #1 west and if Coastal is #1 on the east have the #2 east team play the #1 west!
The way its looking now is that if we had one this year. Troy might be hosting ULL for the championship.

Did you happen to look at how many losses UL has in conference? That's kind of important.

I'm late to the party, but as mentioned in another thread, a championship game in this situation would solve nothing. App had a shot at an outright title and let Troy drive down the field to score what turned out to be a game winner. Troy had a shot at an outright title and lost 35-3 to Arkansas State. Arkansas State caught an unfortunate break (according to a few people) resulting in a loss to Louisiana and a chance at an outright title.
The conference championship was played throughout the season. A conference championship may help if it were App had beat Troy and lost to some other team, however, the round robin in this situation played itself out.
Every team dropped the ball once.

That's it. The Sun Belt needs a 4-team playoff. Make it happen. We'll see you guys in a couple weeks.

That's actually not for certain. The one thing we don't know is who would host if two teams tie for the same record without playing each other.
