P.J. Fleck to Purdue...per footballscoop.com
Les Miles was publically bucking for the Purdue job. Wonder where he winds up if Fleck and staff go to Purdue?

Yeah Fleck has been posturing for a P5 job for a while, wonder if WMU returns to mediocrity or rides the wave of momentum upward? Their next hire is crucial

This is the way of the world: MAC is a proving ground for large, midwestern P5 programs. Kill/Claeys did the same, with NIU.

Congrats to Fleck. Be interesting to see what he can do with Purdue. They're building a new football facility. so maybe that will help with recruiting.

I can't believe you'd take that job if you are Fleck.

If this is true, it means Bohl would not be able to use Wyoming to launch into Purdue this year.

Was looking at Big 12 programs ... Kansas and Iowa St still have guys they either just hired or in 2nd year. Maybe K-State? Gotta replace Synder some day ....

Don't think he'll ever be welcomed back at Nebraska, and they're only 2nd year anyway.

That would really suck for Kalamazoo. He got the fan base to care about WMU by going out to the community and then leaves? I know that is life of the G5 but to be active in the community and then backstab them is pretty poor taste. If you have dreams of going to a P5 program...just get your team winning to where you would be considered, but don't go out into the community and give them hope that you are one of them and then take the night train out of town.

Wyoming's put more money into their program upkeep (or at least shown more) than Purdue as of late, so that scenario seemed very far-fetched, imho.

Bohl is going to be at Wyoming for quite some time despite his success. Don't think he wants to be in a P5 program....

Agree Purdue is a career killer. Better jobs will be available this year, I suspect NC State will be open next year.

That link does not tell me anything about Purdue. If there was something there about Fleck, its gone now.

P.J. Fleck has a very gimmicky coaching style.

So it is no surprise that Mike Bobinski ... ruiner of Georgia Tech Athletics and soon to be ruiner of Purdue Athletics ... wants to hire him.

Yeah Coach Fleck, you were supposed to mire yourself down in the G5 for the rest of your career! 07-coffee3

The state of Wyoming has a policy to match any gift to Wyoming (not sure if just athletics, or the whole school). It really supports Wyo.

Reason I even brought it up before (in another thread) was that the last coach that did well at Purdue came from Wyoming. So fans and boosters might be willing to go back to that well again.

Nonsense. If that was his aim, he would've never left Fargo. He was king and truly no way to tell how many FCS championships in a row he could've won there.

NC State isn't a ton better. Quite honestly if I were him I would have angled for the Houston job. You can win big there, pay is on par or maybe even better than Purdue, and Houston has a proven track record of if you win there you can get true destination jobs. Purdue is a graveyard and Fleck can't change that.

Not sure when this thread was started, and for what it's worth, but our AD tweeted Fleck has NOT been contacted and all focus is on Ohio for the MACC

If Fleck's best offer is Purdue, he'd be much better off holding out one more years at WMU, coaching the MACC and Cotton Bowl without distractions, and land a better job next year rather than tying himself up with Purdue.

Just like Wisconsin was a graveyard, before Alvarez took over .... right?

Every Big Ten program, possibly with the exception of NW, could dig up the financial support to get behind a winner. It just takes that coach to get things rolling the right way ...

I read somewhere that Les Miles is a front runner for Purdue. He won the national championship, and LSU stabbed him in the back.

Well I guess Purdue is technically in the "winnable" division of the B1G, but the odds of him being fired in less than 5 years is infinitely higher than the odds of him winning anything of substance there ever. They are less hopeless than Rutgers though, who has as good a chance of winning their division of the B1G in my lifetime as ECU does.
