Do Houston fans really believe they have a shot at Dana Holgorsen?

No ties to Texas and a bad history. Houston isn't going to replicate South Carolina with Muschamp. Kiffin has proven to be a good assistant. That's the ceiling for a lot of guys.
He will be a head coach again with Sarkisian as his OC some one will have a top notch staff. You don't want him someone else is going to grab him. I would not be surprised if A&M does not go after him.

He wants todd orlando who also has no texas recruiting ties and doesn't want to be uh's head coach.

Says Holgorsen hasn't been the right fit for WVU. Fit more important than if someone "drops" from a P5 to a G5. Houston isn't the same school it was 5 years ago.

If we got Dana Holgorsen that would be amazing.

That would be a home run hire for sure. Is he on shaky ground with WVU?

Can't see Applewhite wanting to be the OC at UT again.

Applewhite at Texas got Mack Brown fired with shoddy recruiting

I don't think it was a ploy. I think it was the consolation prize if Texas didn't offer him. Herman strung LSU along until he heard definitively from Texas.

Btw, next time a hot AAC coach is in line for a top P5 job, can we please not have all the threads explaining why the coach will stay at his AAC school?

that coach could very well be Memphis coach Mike Norvell....

UH did a good job of hanging on to him for an extra year. Bottom line in any upper level and often even mid level P5 school will get a coach to leave the AAC. It simply is what it is. I doubt Memphis, USF, USF, or Tulsa keeps their coach much more than 3 years.

*UNLESS* Aresco can get us more money in a renegotiated tv contract.
If we can get $10 million per team...we MIGHT be able to hang on to a few. Possible, but yeah prolly doubtful.

Who is "you all," paleface? Wasn't me.

It was pretty obvious from the beginning that Texas was Herman's dream job. You can't get any more "top" than that, and still, some of your guys were saying he would stay, even yesterday.

Every fanbase is going to defend their school. If they still have a coach, they still have a coach. Bottom line. It's bad enough if they lose said coach without conference mates piling on and taking joy in it.

Shove it with the "can we please" garbage.

This is hilarious coming from Big Enema Head. You are the biggest troll on this board who takes great pleasure in needling other fan bases whenever something goes wrong. Your tears are delicious and you can shove that. Crybaby.

Dishes it out but can't take even mild polite commentary. The usual UH guys on here are particularly grumpy right now. I seem to think they didn't react that way when Fuente left Memphis last year, lol. More like, "Memphis will sink into the abyss and never be heard from again."

No doubt, the Houston fans took great pleasure in Fuente's departure.

We tried to tell everyone that Herman was HISTORY but, no; all the Cougar posters kept insisting it was different with B'rer Tom. He was gonna rebuild Houston into a CFP crashing behemoth. By Gawd, he only needs to recruit in a 30 mile radius of H-Town.

SO RIDDLE ME THIS, COUGAR FAITHFUL - WHY DID HERMAN BOOK LIKE A SCALDED DOG TO TEXAS???

Simple. Texas is P5 and Houston ain't. Nor is MEMPHIS, USF, Temple, UCF, Tulsa, etc. All of us are simply temporary abodes while our coaches build winners in the AAC to show P5 schools how prepared they are for the big jump to that level.

Norvell had a good first season (after a LOT of people predicted MEMPHIS to fade away after losing Fuente and a 1st round NFL QB). The hard truth is that if he emulates it or does better in 2017, he could make the jump from MEMPHIS.

Yeah, it sucks rhino balls but it is what it is.

BTW, I've seen tweets and reports about that QB Kyle possibly transferring to Texas. It seems Herman is trying to take some of his Cougar players with him. You can also bet he'll take as many of the recruits that he can. Again, this happened last year with MEMPHIS; Fuente and his staff were recruiting for VT from their MEMPHIS offices and on MEMPHIS' dime. Fortunately Norvell came on board in early December and stopped the bleeding. I'm sure he and his staff are out recruiting big time right now.

The absolute bottom line is 01-scout happens and it happens a LOT when coaches resign to take another job.

All BS aside, good luck in your new coaching search.

UGA and USCe are P5 and Houston ain't. Logic fail.
