Exclamation Congrats Cincy!
Nippert made the cover of the American Institute of Architecture ("AIA") November magazine. I haven't actually flipped through it yet, but the cover photo looks great, and I assume that there's a write up about the school and stadium.

You guys have a beautiful campus.

I'd include a pic, but I'm on a phone. Hopefully one of the Bearcat faithful can track this down and include pics.

Congrats again.

Here's an article:
http://www.architectmagazine.com/project...-stadium_o

But the pic in that article isn't the same as the one on the cover, so there might be more articles, and there are certainly more pics.

We're not done yet-- the basketball arena is scheduled to be done in 2018 and is going to be even nicer!

RE: Congrats Cincy!
It really is the Wrigley Field of college football.

Built in 1915. Heavily renovated in 1992 and 2015, with other upgrades in between.

On the small side. 35K actual seats (despite the claimed capacity of 40K). But that's OK. Wrigley is small too.

Very loud with all the verticality around the perimeter.

Well, to be technical ... it's the West Pavilion that they're lauding.

But yes anyway, it does seem like a great stadium in a great setting.

You do realize that they are in the process of screwing around with the stadium to make it a soccer pitch, right?

So... Yeah....

Good Lord, not this again.

(The new minor league soccer team in Cincy is using Nippert as their home field. It's caused numerous annoying threads in the Bearcats subforum here on cssn.)

I don't follow UC's AD. I just saw Nippert on the cover of a magazine that was bouncing around the house, and I figured the UC fans would appreciate the shoutout.

Since I have a soft spot for Cincy (along w/ Houston and UCF), I figured I'd try to brighten somebody's day.

I thought you were going to say "Once we fire Tubberville the improvements will be complete."

I forgot... There is only one approved opinion on the subject.

This thread is about the architecture of Nippert Stadium winning an award. They are making architectural changes to the dimensions of Nippert to fit a soccer pitch onto the playing surface which currently is built to accommodate the football field. The subject is germane to the thread.

You all want to have the whole "Wrigley Field of College Football" moniker but then you don't want anyone to object when you make structural changes to the "Wrigley Field of College Football." It can't...or shouldn't be...the case. If you're going to hold up the architecture of the stadium as a positive, then you've got to expect at least concern when that same architecture is changed.

And YES! YES! YES! YES! The architects did a GREAT job in designing and implementing the West-side Pavilion. And NO! No, no, no... The issue is NOT "allowing" FC Cincinnati to "use" the stadium! The issue are the structural changes that are going to take place to the bones of the stadium itself. And yes, we can ***disagree*** about the magnitude and effects of the changes. You may not see them as being big. But I may.

We get it, we really do. It's a legit issue. But that doesn't mean we need to bring it up every.... single.... time that someone talks about Nippert.
