Realistically, those match ups will be avoided to help maintain the status quo of ignorance and cartel behavior.
Houston has already shown the P5 folks how good they are......

Most people here will dislike this idea, but I think it is important for the AAC and the MW to put together a Champions Bowl. Every year, the AAC and the MW should have their champions play each other. If one of our teams is chosen for a NYD Bowl, then the #2 team in that conference should play in the game.
My recommendation is that our conferences approach the Las Vegas Bowl, and move the Bowl Game to New Years Eve. Good venue, good date, and always good teams.
Sure beats playing a 6-6 team from a Power 5 conference.

That used to be the Liberty Bowl. And a champions bowl won't work, the AAC is trying to associate with the best conferences and not with the worst, whether that's fair or misguided or not.

Throw eventual AAC champ Temple in to that mix as well.

Right now this is true. Probably won't be the case in 2019 when the new stadiuim opens in downtown along with a newly renovated BJCC, TopGolf, enhanced entertainment district all within walking distance of the new stadium.

Actually, the LV bowl isn't for the MW champion. They just get the first pick. They could pick BSU regardless.
But, it could be possible for them to meet the Cactus Bowl if neither the Pac or B12 can fulfill. But the time is so sucky as it starts at 10 pm.

Playing MW champ is a step down for AAC. We want the NY6 bid, champ and/or at large; we want our four bowls per year against P5. We don't want SunBelt or CUSA or mwc

Sure, but what you want and what you will get are two different things. Your current setup does not resemble this at all. Currently, the AAC gets 2 x MAC, 1 x Sun Bekt, 1 x CUSA, and a couple of ACC teams that are middle of the pack. Your champion will play at An average P5 team if not in a NYD Bowl. How is this at all beneficial for your conference? If you win, you should have won. If you lose, well you lost to a P5 team that likely has 5 or 6 losses.

Ha ha ha.
Nice misrepresentation of reality. Last year - AAC had 5 bowls against P5. This year 4 on the docket and still a shot at NY6 if WMU stumbles.
mwc champ gets AAC NOTHING.
Moreover, this thinking is like wanting to go to the NIT instead if March Madness, like saying it would be better to play the AAA champ if you don't go to the MLB playoffs.

That baffles me.
Have you ever been to Birmingham? About on a par with Shreveport.

I get it, I just want a good game. A&M or South Carolina > some CUSA or MAC team.

It is very unlikely, but possible, that Houston could play Boise in the Cotton Bowl.

8 or 9 teams are going to have to lose.

About 4-6 in range are guaranteed to lose. Florida and Auburn seem like lead pipe cinches to lose. We definitely need Florida to lose to Florida State. Keep the faith.
