Bowl predictions
Ranking the teams on attractiveness I think the MAC goes as follows:
1. WMU
2. Toledo
3. Ohio
4. Miami (hot)
5. EMU (new to bowls)
6. CMU
Camelia and Idaho are the least attractive bowls for our conference so I think it will be a carrossel of 4-6 to see which one gets away from those tie ins. The rest depends on if WMU can go 13-0 and grab the Cotton Bowl.
If WMU did not get the Cotton. Where are our 2016 backup agreements? I know Miami Beach and Dollar General are the other primary's.

Quick lane Detroit is the key one as it might have a big ten but no acc team

The MAC is the exclusive backup for Detroit too.
The MAC has 6 bowl eligible teams so there is no question it will meet its commitments on the bowl front with Akron and NIU possible 5-7 win teams that could go if there is a shortage of bowl eligible schools.
Think about too where teams played from the MAC last year. That is where you won't see them in 2016.
Boca Raton (Toledo)
Bahamas (Western Michigan)
Camellia (Ohio)
Quick Lane (CMU)
Potato (Akron)
WMU wins the MAC and doesn't get selected for the Cotton Bowl I can see them in Miami vs. Houston to set up a game of 2 ranked teams.
Toledo to the Quick Lane to play the ACC since they didn't play in Detroit last year.
Ohio to the Bahamas since they played in Alabama last year.
EMU to Mobile as a novelty.
Miami to Potato, CMU to Camellia with 6-6 records.

Miami Beach would be a nice consolation prize if we happen to lose to Toledo or in the MACC.

RE: Bowl predictions
The thing to remember is that the matchups are fluid, the conferences (and teams to a much lesser extent) have a lot of sway in creating good games if possible, like when NIU went to Boca to play Marshall instead of the usual MAC champ bowl in Mobile.
If Western wins out:
Cotton - WMU, because Houston and Boise probably aren't going to win their conferences without some help no matter what their fans say
Mobile - OU, they'd be the runner-up as East winner so you'd think they'd be here in place of the champ
Miami Beach - Toledo, it's a second straight SoFla bowl but Little Havana is far away from Boca and they'd play an exciting game against the AAC
Bahamas - Miami, a bunch of chicken in the sun sounds good right now although Miami Beach would be a close drive for me
Potato - EMU, it's tough to get to and it's frigid in December but for the sake of the program it'd be nice to have a weeknight game to themselves on ESPN
Camellia - CMU, they're probably at the bottom rung of the ladder in terms of bowling teams
If OU wins the MACC:
Mobile - OU, it's the traditional destination for the MACC champ
Miami Beach - WMU, probably to play Houston
Bahamas - Toledo, no one is mad to leave NW Ohio for the Bahamas in December
Potato - Miami, probably for the same reason as EMU above
Detroit - EMU, having a game in their backyard would be a slam dunk choice for the MAC
Camellia - CMU again, though it were Miami I wouldn't be mad since it's the easiest to attend timing-wise
If Toledo beats Western and wins the MACC:
Mobile - Toledo, they were here a few years ago but it's still usually the game for the champ
Miami Beach - WMU
Bahamas - OU, insert Athens for NW Ohio and you have the same reason as Toledo above
Potato - Miami
Detroit - EMU
Camellia - CMU

I'd love a shot at an ACC team just an hour up north in a domed stadium. Can the Rockets win the MAC and still do this?

Akron is on its 4th string QB and over half the defensive starters are out with injury. Even if, miraculously, they got an invite as a fill-in team, they would decline.

RE: Bowl predictions
Assuming a MAC team ends up in Detroit, no guarantee.
CMU - Camelia, Boise, or Detroit.
EMU - Boise, Bahamas, Detroit, Camelia.
Miami - Camelia, Boise, Bahamas
Ohio - Miami Beach, Bahamas, or Mobile
Toledo - Miami Beach, Bahamas, Mobile, or Detroit
WMU - Cotton Bowl, Miami Beach, or Mobile
Personally don't want to see Toledo in the Bahamas. Wouldn't mind App St or Troy in Mobile. USF or other AAC in Miami Beach. Detroit is an easy trip, if there is a good match up.

If WMU went to Detroit and beat another BIG team that would be hillarious. They'd bring about 35k there too.
This I think would be the best matchups for competition and hype...
(Cotton) WMU- Oklahoma State (Oklahoma State favored by 3)
(Miami Beach) Toledo - USF (USF favored by 9)
(Dollar General) Ohio - Troy (Troy favored by 7)
(Camelia) Miami - stAte (stAte favored by 6)
(Idaho Potato) CMU - Colorado State (CSU favored by 10)
(Detroit Lions) EMU - Maryland (Maryland favored by 8)

Picture gets clearer tomorrow, but for WMU it feels like...
Win MACC, highest ranked G5 = Cotton
Win MACC, not highest ranked G5 = Dollar General
Lose to either Toledo or Ohio = Miami Beach

USF played in Miami Beach last year so I doubt they go two games in a row. I would like a game against stAte though, in the "we crapped the bed in September but turned it around somehow" bowl. OU-Troy is also a rematch of a bowl from a few years ago IIRC.

Yup, I was actually at that game. Troy smoked us 48-21 in the New Orleans bowl back in 2010.
OU arranged for a bunch of busses to take students down for the game. I remember we were given all day to party on Bourbon Street before it started at 8:00, and the busses were set to head back to Ohio immediately after the game. It was a rough bus ride home to say the least.

I don't know if NIU would accept a bowl at 5-7, but IIRC they have a high APR if there aren't enough eligible teams. In that sphere, the games involving 5-6 schools are important, in addition to ensuring that CMU and Miami get a bid.
Plus Wazzu is already getting waxed in the Apple Cup, that won't help Boise's SOS if it continues.

I kinda like the Camellia Bowl destintation for Miami...driveable for fans and hopefully a winnable game. (although Troy would be a handful!)

I hope we decline any bowl invite, if one is offered. Our team is bad this year and we need to save any money we would lose on a bowl game to fire Rod Carey.

There won't be a fully eligible team that won't go. Army & Hawaii, the first two not-immediately-eligible will get in. Another 4 teams or so (from expectations about a week ago) @ 5-7 will be filing in....
