Two words. Iron Bowl. Tigers are 17 point dogs on the road. Too bad Auburn got tripped up at Georgia two weeks back. My wife will be on edge Saturday. War Eagle!

This obviously is the game Tommy Tuberville is the most concerned with this weekend...

He should hatch a plan to put some sort of Mannequin on the sideline. Seriously, what could it hurt.

In most circumstances, who could even tell the difference?

I'll also say this: I would be RELIEVED if he wore his Auburn stuff to the game. Tired of seeing him in UC gear, pretending like he gives a damn...

If I bet, I might bet against the crimson in this one. I can't believe the spread is that high. I'll update from Bryant Denny.

Although Saban got what he wanted....a lackluster performance last week so he could bust their chops all week.

Auburn has been banged up at QB and with several of their running backs but they should be game ready on Saturday. I would also lean against 17 points. I think the Tigers will give 'em a hell of a game but Bama is just too good to lose this one at home. Plus, the Crimson Master Motivator is on the sidelines. Enjoy the Iron Bowl and all the festivities. I'm jealous.

RE: Week 13
Have always laughed at those professing AAC dominance. It's impossible because just as you get good, your coached is purchased away. Even the threat of losing your coach rocks most college kids' enthusiasm and confidence. Houston is terrible in the first half vs Memphis giving up 34 points. Even if the Cougars come back to win nothing will change with the Head Coach or the bowl selection.

Just like Justin Fuente, Brian Kelly, etc. Herman won't even be around for their bowl game. Life in the AAC -thanks Ono.

Did someone on this board last week actually suggest Houston to the Cotton Bowl? LMAO

Memphis up 34-17 on Houston at the half, but Houston has cut it to 34-24 in Q3. Herman is a fine coach, but doesn't he seem a little overhyped based upon their results this season?

So you don't think beating two top 5 teams so far this season counts for anything?

Yeah, that's exactly what I said. 01-wingedeagle

I'm just saying it's only his second year as a HC and it wasn't like he was starting from scratch at UH. He's obviously had some great wins, but that makes losses to Navy and especially pretty big to SMU all the more head-scratchers. They might well win today (it's now Memphis up 41-37 in Q4) but it seems like they've struggled more than expected in several other wins and they are already eliminated from the winning the AAC East, much less the AAC champs.

I'm just wondering if there's enough depth there to warrant ALL the adulation and financial competition from some real blueblood programs.

Ummmm, it is exactly what you said. Claim he's overhyped based on THIS season, yet he already has two top five wins THIS season.

No, I asked if he "seems a LITTLE overhyped" which is not even close to saying two top 5 wins count for nothing. And the big deficit they had to Memphis and their rookie HC is now officially their 3rd loss THIS year 48-44. They are now tied for 3rd place (actually 4th after the tie-breaker) in the mighty AAC East. Their road record this year is 2-3.

Stop putting words in my mouth. A bidding war reportedly starting at $5.5M/year just seems mighty steep to me based upon the overall record. I'm open to a logical opposing point of view. If you don't want to address the point of my comment, feel free to move on.

edit: Guess I'm not alone in wondering about this:

Quote:Pat Forde ‏@YahooForde 1h1 hour ago
Really like Tom Herman. But a university likely is going to give $8 million a year to a guy who lost to Navy, SMU and Memphis this year

Quote:Tim Adams ‏@TimAdams918 1h1 hour ago
Does Tom Herman, whose team was prohibitive favorites to win the AAC, deserve in excess of $5 mil a year after going 3-3 at end of AAC play?

Texas, LSU, Oregon, Texas A&M fans, do you really want a coach who lost to SMU, Navy and Memphis, and escaped Tulsa? #UT #LSU #Ducks #TAMU

Highest paid coaches:

Jimbo Fisher, Florida State – $5.25 million.
Bob Stoops, Oklahoma – $5.55 million.
Urban Meyer, Ohio State – $6.095 million.
Nick Saban, Alabama – $6.94 million.
Jim Harbaugh, Michigan – $9.004 million.

If Herman gets more than Urban or Saban, there's something wrong.

Navy, SMU, and Memphis would beat a lot of '"P5" teams.
