WILMINGTON, North Carolina – Charity Powell of Hallsboro, N.C., has signed a National Letter of Intent to play for Head Coach Adell Harris and the UNCW women's basketball team in 2017-18.

"We're excited to have Charity join our program for the 2017-18 season," Harris said. "She is a proven winner after leading East Columbus to three straight conference titles and gives us another quality local player. Her height and athleticism will allow us to continue developing a tall and athletic team in the years to come."

A three-year letter winner for East Columbus High School, Powell has helped the Gators win three consecutive Three Rivers 1A/2A Conference championships. The 6-foot-2 guard/forward averaged 18 points and 12 rebounds per game last year and was named as the conference's MVP.
