No reason for people not to make it out, especially the ETSU-T fans that are in the area. Tennessee is off on homecoming, and either on the road or playing at a time that shouldn't affect coming to ETSU. You might miss kickoff of Tennessee/Florida, but that's it. Hopefully that helps put more butts in the seats.

We now are seeing the results of the more recent "attitude adjustment"? Ha. Remember the anger that once flowed here at the sheer mention of UT? I attribute my mellowing to age.

Obviously they did their due diligence and have planned on making the game day experience something special for Buc fans. They thought the game times through to maximize the crowds and I think it will be great. I predict huge crowds at each game. Good job Doc Sander and Scott Carter.

Agree. The setup looks very good for that -- beautiful stadium, excellent campus location, attractive surroundings, convenient parking and access. It's all there for the development of some "got to be there on game day" mojo, even if UT conflicts (just hit the record button, which is better on the big screen than in the clouds at Neyland)

All that factors in along with interactive things, something for everyone. A family oriented experience but also one that allows people to have fun. It needs to be drilled into the heads of the meter maids that their job isn't to go around and be the drink police. Don't hassle the patrons who are coming, because they'll get pissed off and not come back. Inside the stadium, concession and bathroom access is going to have to be good, and if there's a line, they need to pop a TV or two in the crapper so you don't miss anything while you're waiting.
Also, if you choose the right games at Neyland Stadium, you never sit in the uppers unless you're just being cheap.

You make some great points. These are the kinds of things top notch FBS programs do. I don't know if there are any teams in the SoCon that provide the amenities you spoke of (sure would be great) but we can't compare SEC venues to SoCon venues.

One thing I would like to know/see is what the university has in store for the game day experience. By that I mean - items leading up to kickoff, and throughout the game. Some teams have something similar to the Buc Walk. Most fire cannons, or shoot off fireworks or blow horns every time the home team scores. Some have great music before the game to get the crowd involved. But lord - I have to tell you - that Tennessee Waltz you all play before the game has got to go!!! You talk about a number that pulls the air out and makes you wanna take a nap...
Suggestion 1: Get rid of the Waltz!
Suggestion 2: Find something (visual/audio) for scoring on O and D.
Suggestion 3: Revamp the Buc Walk. Get rid the the projected path - its way too long and as such, it will look bare. Heck, load them in buses at the dome and drop them off in the student section/street close to the stadium. Nothing worse than a team walk with not enough people to line the street. As it sits now, It would take more than 20k people to line the current path.
Suggestion 4: Did I say lose the waltz?

Love the Waltz, one of the few real traditions at ETSU.

RE: 2017 ETSU Football Schedule
I think we should keep the Waltz even though it is terrible, but I absolutely agree that the proposed Buc Walk is far too long. It should be cut to less than half of the proposed path. I think that we should also look at throwing out the "new fight song" that the band played the past two years at football games- I didn't like it and I don't think the fans have any connection to it . There is only so much that the administration can do for a better experience- it is ultimately up to the fans to be present and loud.

Let me provide a very unpopular opinion- I would have actually preferred higher seating. After seeing the stadium for myself, I am afraid that most of the seats will have obstructed views of the sideline nearest them due to the players standing on the sideline. If they ever expand and add a seating deck above the current seating or provide end zone seats, I might actually change my seats to that. Hopefully, I am just overthinking this and all the seating will be great on game day.

The waltz is at the end of games, when everyone is leaving. I've never heard it at the beginning. You're probably right about the Buc Walk but we'll see. And yes, we definitely need some scoring A/V. With a video board, they should get a corporate sponsor to sponsor the Roadrunner run, Ford pass, (or touchdown/FG) or something.

I actually like that we have a fight song for a change. It's been a good way to try and build traditions where we had none.

RE: 2017 ETSU Football Schedule
Well, I certainly don't recall a "new fight song" at football games the past two years. It sounded like the old one to me.

I seem to recall the Tennessee Waltz always being played at ETSU games well before when UT does it, which is at the end of the game. It's a more poignant song for the end, but I can understand not wanting to copy how UT does it. I'd prefer we drop it and find another traditional, more mountain-type song and make it our own.

I too prefer higher-up seats, but I don't figure the players will obscure the current seating much at all since the stands are built up a great deal. Surely our architects had that in mind and aren't descendants of those horrible planners who stuck the Dome seats right on the sideline.

According to Wikipedia App State, Baylor and UT all play it at the end of the game. It says ETSU plays it during the pre-game.

RE: 2017 ETSU Football Schedule
Prior to every football game these past two years, there has been an announcement that to celebrate the return of football, whoever it was wrote a new fight song- followed by the band playing the song.

If they are actually walking that whole path then it is too long. Would be better if they rode in the bus with a police escort and sirens until they got to the front entrance and then walk in.

I don't think that is an unpopular opinion, we need upper deck seats. I don't think the existing seats will have obstructed views though.

If they built an upper deck on the east side those would probably be the best seats in the place.

Another good reason not to believe Wikipedia. I've been at every FB game, beginning to end. The Waltz has always been played at the end. (Also at the end of basketball games too.) I kinda like it there.

The new band chief wrote the new (additional) fight song, and they've had the PA announcer announce it during the pregame band performance, every home game since football returned, right before they play it. I'm not as big a fan of it. I prefer our traditional fight song. I like the Waltz too, but the Waltz at the end.

Just one opinion.
