What is wrong with UConn? They pulled out the W against Chaminade, but come on man. Chaminade had a losing record last year in Division 2 - they should get crushed by even the worst D-1 program.

They should be crushed by UConn but it doesn't work like that. Once you get past the top 200-250 programs there's not much difference between D-I teams versus those below, all the way down to NAIA teams. I remember a ranked Pitt team almost losing to Georgetown...Kentucky, of NAIA.

Besides, Chaminade always gets up for that tournament in their one chance to play D-I basketball teams, good ones at that, in their part of the country. That gym is hard to play in as well, especially if you aren't hydrated.

Beat me too it. If Indiana isn't careful, they may end up the fifth best team in their state. They've already lost ground to Butler, Valpo, Purdue and Indiana State in the past.

In UVA's 90-34 pounding of Gambling, GSU only had 9 points to their name at the half...to Virginia's 49.

Grambling is among the worst teams in the SWAC, which is hard to do. There are numerous high school teams that can beat them, which is not an exaggeration at all.

As bad as some may be this year, it's not nearly as bad as it was last year. I swear I recall myself posting to these threads almost nightly because of how badly Southland, CUSA, and SWAC teams were doing against non-D1 schools. Bad enough that last night, one of the last times I checked scores before going to bed, I saw that LSU-Alexandria was ahead of Northwestern State or something like that, and I was like "here we go again." LSU-A got one or two over on D1 schools last year, iirc, or kept games brutally closer than what they were supposed to be.

This was a bad night for Grambling...maybe worse than what Citadel went through last week with Iowa State, but it could be worse for both those who fell way short of making their respective games even remotely challenging. When you're near the bottom of D1, and you're losing to these non-D1 programs, I think it begs some deeper questions about athletics at these institutions, and it's just an all-around loss for programs who fall short. Totally bad PR. I'll take getting thumped by a ranked team every time. These scores are laughable, but far more forgivable, and explainable and expected.

For Iowa State and Virginia, at least they get to give their bench a shot and can work on and study different coverage and offensive schemes without having to worry about too much backfire.

IU was in the top 5?. They play UNC soon, so they can get mojo back. Real question is IU played this game @ftwayne?

Yes and no. IPFW plays most of its games in a small (sub-3K) arena. Select games are played at a 13K county arena. This game was played at the county arena.
