Biletnikoff snubs C-USA
Trent Taylor and Carlos Henderson were semifinalists, but did not make the finalist list. Wasn't Taywan Taylor on the list, as well?
The only G5 receiver to be a finalist is Zay Jones of ECU. Austin Carr (NW) and Dede Westbrook (OU) round out the list.
The sad thing about it is, I feel like Taylor and Henderson being on the same team is why neither will get the award. They were both so good that they had to share the spotlight on their own team and had to share the receptions and yards.
Hey Henderson, want to win it next year??

Taylor was a semifinalist and Norris was knocked out of the running before that. I agree that having 2 big time receivers on the same team keeps just 1 from putting up bigger numbers. Though it also keeps defenses from keying in on just 1 of the receivers in a kind of pick your poison philosophy. Both players on both teams are over 1,000 yards on the season.

I mean you're not wrong, but it would help with getting our name out there if our players win national awards.

RE: Biletnikoff snubs C-USA
It is like I said in the original thread about this award. Any G5 player has to have ridiculous numbers to even have a chance. That is the only reason Zay Jones made it because he has 151 catches which is 48 more than second and nearly 1,700 yards. Just look at the top 10 in yards and see who the only two non-G5 players are, you guessed it.

Aaron Jones was named a semifinalist for the Doak Walker, but didn't make it as a finalist either.

Same for Jonathan Barnes with the Groza...that one I expected because he's missed a couple kicks since the semifinal announcement. I expect him to be in the running next year.

You basically have to put up a Troy Edwards season to win the Biletnikoff award if you're a G5 school. Here's his 1998 stat line, 140 receptions, 1996 receiving yards, and 27 receiving touchdowns. Also you have to light up the #4 team in the country setting a record for receiving yards, 21 receptions, 405 receiving yards, and 3 touchdowns.

and that was my not so subliminal point....
you have to stud out like none other at the g5 level to have a chance....
we all know the ribbons are biased bs....
having players drafted is what these kiddies see today.....and deservedly so....
that's how you recruit and develop.....

I really enjoyed watching Vernon Butler go in the 1st round last year right before the 2 DT's from Alabama that had to wait until the 2nd or 3rd rounds and the look on Saban's face

Those weren't even his fault, though. O-line not giving him protection.

I realize that. Just saying it's sad that he got cut for stuff that isn't his fault.

Yeah, when Moss won it in 1997 he was 96-1,820 with 26 TDs. Smaller conference guys used to be treated more fairly with these awards, not so much anymore.

RE: Biletnikoff snubs C-USA
Really do not see how Taylor was left off being a finalist for WKU...He put up over 100 yards vs. BAMA which is unheard of...Forgot the stat at the time, but just remember Bama hardly ever gives up over a 100 yards to a WR...Taylor will be paying on Sundays, he has great hands, speed to fly by people and good route running.....I think he has a chance to really make his mark as long as he lands on a good team with a good system....Taylor I think would be great for the Eagles and Carson Wentz...
