There is no leeway in which 5-7 teams get to go bowling...it's strictly in order of the team's Apr rating

Nobody gets the preferential treatment Notre Dame gets! It's ridiculous.

Notre Dame's preferential treatment goes back to the Knute Rockne days and has only been tempered by the "Tie one for the Gipper" game against Mich State in 1966. At one time, the ND QB had to lose the Heisman Trophy before any other player could have a chance to win it. They even changed the pronunciation of Joe Theisman's name to give him an edge for the award.

I will give them the recognition that they don't play the "directional teams" that other P5 teams play as PPV opponents. Their annual "weak sister" opponents are Navy, Army or Air Force.
