Just got an email from UC. It's official.

Quote:University of Cincinnati Interim President Beverly J. Davenport has been selected by the University of Tennessee (UT) System President Joe DiPietro to serve as the 8th Chancellor of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, the state's flagship campus.

DiPietro’s recommendation of Davenport's appointment will be presented to the UT Board of Trustees at a special meeting Thursday, Dec. 15. Her appointment will make her the first female to lead the Knoxville campus. Pending the Board of Trustees’ approval, she will begin at UT Knoxville March 1, 2017.

Can she take Tommy with her?

It's good news as she will not be UC President

I was shocked to read she was making $625k a year at UC. She was making more as provost than Dr Ono was pulling in as president and what he is making now at UBC.

So who's next as interim? Robert E. Richardson?

Wow! That's huge news. Good for Dr. Davenport, and a great sign of respect for UC. It says quite a bit about our reputation when a flagship school like Tennessee hires our Provost to serve as Chancellor.

As I said on the other thread...

First UT hired away our Head Football Coach.
Now they've hired our Interim President.

Too soon to start thinking about renaming UT, UC-Knoxville?

Ono took a pay cut to go to UBC. That's right...a pay cut. That sounds so awful.

Suffice it to say, the man wasn't necessarily driven by money, but then he's probably making more outside his primary job anyway.

If a school like Tennessee thinks so much of her, why the criticism from the folks on here? It's a serious question. I don't know much about the woman other than what's on her resume.

Yup.

To be clear, I peg the chances at about 5% that the next president is not a woman. About 2% that it's not a minority.

So UC needs a new President, AD and Head football coach.

Seems like this will be a total clusterfart. Fingers crossed.

Seems like most people dislike Mike Bohn, am I wrong on that? I don't have strong feelings on him either way, unless he recommends keeping TT.

Actually, he probably does mean the AD also...

From what i hear, she was not likely to get the UC job, so as we've seen with these type of changes, likely was looking to move on. A new outsider coming in often changes the folks at the top.
