If the best team in the conference just lost to Furman, we are in deep trouble.

Well, the conference is in "deep trouble" anyways bc it is not good, but I think the impact of the loss of a PG was evident in that game. Now, they seem to have adjusted to life without Norton.

Only 20 Turnovers for a 25.6% Turnover rate last night.

Think you're forgetting the team with the best player in the conference...

The one that lost to Texas Southern or a different team?

TSU is 4-1 mostly on the road. They look like the real deal.

Conversation goes full circle back to UAB, as TSU's coach is none other than Mike Davis.

Their ceiling, per RPIForecast, is a 65ish RPI and are expected to land sub-100. As good as they are, they are still a SWAC team, and no home loss to a SWAC team is a good loss. Rice is probably the best team they'll beat all season. You don't want to be a SWAC team's best win.

In regards to the root post's rankings. You might want to include all of the undefeated teams before teams with one or two double digit losses.

You also realize that Texas Southern's campus is within 5 miles of the Rice campus? And this was their only game in Houston until January 14? Tudor Fieldhouse was full of TSU fans.

Yes that game will haunt our young Owls all season. But it will not be a bad loss. I hope you are right that Rice is the best team that loses to TSU, because I won't be surprised if TSU beats Cincinnati or LSU.

Again, it is Kansas. It was a 22.9% turnover rate (18.7% for Kansas with multiple point guards) UAB rebounded with them, were relatively similar in turnover rate; they just didn't make shots like Kansas did.

You must have been watching a different game than I was. We looked like crap.

GW tonight will be a better litmus test, but I worry where our head is at after getting throttled on national tv.

You guys played possibly the best team in the country (top 5 at least). Showed some good things, imo. Kansas just hit every shot it seemed. Cokley isn't going to struggle like that in CUSA games.

You left out the #1 RPI team in the country! The difference between 1st place Charlotte and 2nd Place Creighton is about the same as the difference between 2nd Place Creighton and 18th Place San Diego State. This is clear evidence that we are the most dominant team in the country and should receive the top overall seed in the NCAA Tournament. No need to play more games.

Clear and irrefutable evidence.

Gilesfan, I like your optimism. I agree that Cokely was just over-matched last night. I'm most disappointed in William Lee. He was a complete no show and really hasn't done much offensively in any game so far. Need him to wake up big time.

Lets not over hype Texas Southern. Even if they win 25+ games and a SWAC Title, they will still either 1)Be in a play in game or 2)Be a 16 seed.

Unless Davis just likes the stress free life of coaching at Texas Southern, I look for someone to give him another shot come the end of this basketball season.

Miss St did not run UTEP out of the gym. The Miners lost by 7 in what was a tight, see saw game and UTEP played without their best forward in Winn. That loss is not a big deal. If Floyd can keep everyone together this will be a decent team with post season possibilities but not likely conference championship quality.

That's your perspective. My perspective is that they spotted us 11 points in the first 5 minutes and beat us by 20 the rest of the game.

I cannot figure out if you are Eeyore, Snupholopagus or Henny Penny.
Just the most miserable person, day in and day out.

Typical El Paso inferiority complex. It's very common around here.

It was the game after we lost Nick Norton for the season. Plus it looks like our turnover rate and 3 point defense are both terrible. Need to clean them both up...a lot. Both are around 300th in the country right now.

You're being too nice to Charlotte. Kick them out of CUSA. Worst loss ever.
