Luckey, you're having a bad week on college sports not knowing this or that. You had a number of posts which raised eye brows.
E'Tough was KIDDING on Hurts.
He is the star quarterback of the NC Alabama Crimson Tide, but was replaced last night in the NC game. Hence the joke...

Hmmmm LoL.... didn't even watch the game last night. I thought all of you hang on the edge of your seats waiting for my next valuable post.
Sorry Lucky, that was a funny one.
Luckey will know him on NFL draft day in 2019.

Hurts isn't getting drafted, Tagovailoa certainly might. Tua looks like a Russell Wilson clone. Hurts is more like a thick Reggie Bell clone.

Maybe he SHOULD transfer to EMU. A 'thick' Reggie Bell would be most welcome in Ypsi.

I think Whitmer is a spring graduate although I think a full qualifier.
The question is: Are we still in on him or did the ship pass?
Do we want another TE? Did Wigers get a 2017 OR '18 scholarships?
How many scholarships left to give next month. Was CC trying to 'budget' 2017 scholarships leaving one open for a mid-year transfer (e.g., Wiegers).
This is PURE speculation and more an example than statement: Did the staff say to Whitmer we'll sign you in February instead of December and you can come during Summer (saving that scholarship and giving it to Wiegers) instead of January?
I'd think a smart coach would keep one mid-year scholarship open in case a graduate eligible player comes along who is too good to pass up. If one doesn't then that scholarship can be given out in February.

RE: 2018 Football Recruiting
I'm just tossing this out. Another WR leaving MSU.
I have NO idea where this MSU WR will end up. Whenever a B1G player transfers, they can stay nearby with schools like Cincy, Pitt, etc., leave the area or go MAC.

RE: 2018 Football Recruiting
I hope CC has an extra scholarship in his back pocket in case a grad transfer, another one, comes along. Here is a list I found:
https://gradtransfertracker.com/potential-transfers/
Only looked at a few names. One is Wiegers fmr. H.S. teammate who is transferring from UofM. Maurice Ways.
http://www.mlive.com/wolverines/index.ss...ans_1.html
My thought is too look for grad transfers from the Midwest, maybe at schools like Rutgers, KY, etc. which we played and for whom they have a feel for EMU FB. And so on. (Hint: we don't need another QB Lol.)

I saw that Whitmer made a visit to Weber State.

That suggests to me several important things:
1). Obviously he did not sign and appears to be uncommitted.
2). It doesn't appear that he'll go to a P5 program (e.g., L'ville). So he seems to be a G5/FCS canddate?
3). I don't know why he did not sign with EMU and if it could still happen.
4). Weber State is a very good FCS program which played deep in the FCS playoffs.

I believe FCS has different academic and transfer rules he may not upon investigation been eligible to play here and graduates in. May from his Juco

If I follow you, he could stay at his JUCO and sign with us in Feb and enroll in Summer.
That is a point I've made before: We had a very large number of new recruits sign on to start school this month. Not sure CC could take everyone who wanted to come early even if this kid was a qualifier and could have started this month. The option could have been: Stay in school, sign in Feb, graduate in May, start EMU in Summer.
I believe CC indicated this problem when apparently they had both Rush and Simon on campus and liked both and didn't know if they could sign both, but somehow they found a mid-year scholarship for both.
Also Logan G. apparently will pay his own way this semester as one of those 'shirt' recruits. Let's see if he signs next month for 2018/9.

Latest (not much new) from the Dzone.
BTW, we like most schools, are making many PWO (preferred walkon) offers. I can see the possibilities if these players have FBS abilities but get under recruited for one reason or another (size, speed, etc.). In that case they may exceed expectations. I still think of Kent State's Roosevelt Nix, too short but very, very good.
If they don't make the 2-deeps and earn a scholarship then can transfer their last two years to say D-II GLIAC.

RE: 2018 Football Recruiting
My gut tells me we sign Logan Giordano, Marqualin Scott and maybe either Gerrit Prince/Jacob Kainer or another WR or TE in February. That with the graduate transfer QB would give us about 19 or 20 not counting Grissom and Mackey if and when they become eligible. Frankly it appears EMU cannot resist adding yet another DL with 3 years to play and its a wise move stock piling talent in this area. Haney who already signed can play either OL or DL so the staff has some flexibility. Remember when we were constantly under the 85 scholie limit now it appears we don't have enough.

Hope you are right.
Apparently, a GUESS, is that Logan is a mid-year h.s. graduate. Those are tricky. What is the kid to do if the school does not have a 2017 scholarship for him? Does he pay his way for one semester and then go on scholarship in the summer? Does he sit home doing essentially nothing waiting to start summer school?
One other thought: When giving out an 'extra' scholarship or two, I'm like let's give it to the DL. Somebody is doing a nice job of evaluating DLs.

Is Giordano a PWO offer or full scholarship? I don't see anything special in his videos and he's only 5'11. No offense to the kid but he doesn't really look like a D1 player at this point.

First choice would be Prince, could contribute right away, and be a matchup problem for anybody. Kainer could also be a good player, may need a redshirt year to develop, but he'd be ahead of alot of kids, coming from a high level Texas program.

I see Prince and Whitmer as being very similar players. Sign only one?

Prince mostly plays WR. If he's fast enough, and they think he can start out wide, sign both. Add as much talent to the team as possible.
