Women's BB
Let's give some love to Women's BB team as they beat ODU in Norfolk. I remember when our loss to ODU was automatic. Coach Swanson has made this team competitive. They are 2-1 this year and have a good team this year.

A wonderful win...I don't remember that we've ever defeated ODU at their place.

Heading down to Williamsburg next Tuesday for a few days with the family. Taking my daughters to see them take on St. Francis. Looking forward to it.

7 in a row for the Tribe.

The CAA is now ranked 8th in women's basketball right below the Power 5/Big East/AAC. Hopefully the league can get an at-large team into the NCAA Tournament this year. Glad to see teams other than JMU doing well thus far, and helping to boost up the resume for the entire league.

RE: Women's BB
Seventh consecutive win after losing to St.John's in home opener. Three consecutive home games coming up; win first one and we have the second longest women's team win streak ever.

Longest win streak ever is 21 in a row back in the 1920s.

Back when they played with 3 women on each side of half court per team (couldn't have them getting to "sweaty", you know...)

They didn't sweat in those days; they glowed.

RE: Women's BB
Ladies won again-eighth in a row-68-46. Sealed it early with a 26-4 first quarter. May wife and I went to this one this warm Williamsburg afternoon...came away impressed by the relentless team defense played by the Tribe. 13 steals (to go with 13 blocked shots) and few easy shots or even passes for St.Mary's.

The ladies really play hard 100% and on offense are unselfish with the ball.

Team hasn't lost since season opener against St.John's.

Would hope the men play just as hard and relentless on defense tomorrow night as did the ladies today.

Nice 73-60 win tonight. Very fun team to watch. Controlled most of the game except St. Francis made a big run in the 3rd period. Get out to support this group!

FWIW for some reference, JMU being dominated early on by the 7-3 St. John's team that the women lost to in the season opener. On ESPN3.

JMU came back to take 36-26 half time lead. Not sure what St. John's did to promote the midday game, but they have a full, noisy house. Need to copy and paste that at Kap.

ODU had a midday women's game about a week or two ago where they 8000 kids from girls clubs all over the area attend free. Surely something we might do.

FYI--These are often "Education Games". Partnerships with local schools to have the game as a field trip. It is the loudest (highest pitch) arena noise you'll ever hear.

RE: Women's BB
It will be interesting to see how the women fare against East Carolina next Wednesday -- it will be their first game against a Top 100 RPI team since the season-opening loss to St. John's. It should be a good final tuneup before conference play starts on Jan. 2 at Delaware.

The team's current strength of schedule ranking is 327 out of 349 teams. The next lowest SOS in the CAA is Towson at 235. While they've had some tougher opponents in the mix (e.g. ODU), I think the ECU game comes at a good time to let Coach Swanson & Co. gauge how far the team has come.
