MyBB Game Week: Madonna & Omaha
Team is back from Indy where they faced two teams who started both games with hot shooting behind the arc (Think G-W hit 4 - 4 to start the game on their way to a 14 - zip lead). The big difference is that G-W cooled off; IUPUI did not.

Maybe back to more normal games this week.

Some may wonder about a 1:00 p.m. start Saturday. I wonder if they are done for the convenience of the OPPOSING team. I assume Omaha will fly in Friday morning/afternoon and fly out Saturday afternoon/evening. Saves some $ and gets them home Saturday evening, instead of Sunday.

RE: Game Week: Madonna & Omaha
The only value in Madonna is that EMU can practice the one-on-one offense. That and cranking up every stupid shot as soon as it presents itself.

I think I'll watch Hoosiers tonight.

It's not luck when teams come out blazing behind the arc. Patience against the zone leads to uncontested three point shots and good D1 shooters can make them.

I have to agree with Steve that the talent is there but not the coaching. Looks like another 16-18 win season. Not bad and probably good enough for Murphy to keep his job.....

I don't know.

In D-I ball shooting the three ball is both skill and luck just like winning eight hands in a row at the blackjack or poker tables.

There is no doubt that IUPUI is a 3-ball team. If they shoot 30% Saturday we win the game. They would not have been competitive. They shoot 50% and beat us badly.

It is one of the 'dirty secrets' of college basketball, on any given night when the 3-ball is falling even a Duke can lose...

I'm with EagleSam who posted that the start to this season did EMU no favors. Remember these are college kids, not NBA players.

Off to Pittsburgh, then fly directly to Dallas, then back to Detroit and play Rochester and then Thursday off to Indy for two games and then bus home Saturday afternoon.

I basically think the kids were home three full days: Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday of last week out of TEN days (This all start Thursday November 10 and ended Saturday, November 19).

I don't know if the team was road weary but it sounds like a NBA schedule, not collegiate.

I understand we can blame UofM for that!!

We were supposed to play UofM and I hear Marquette.

Then we got shuffled off to Pittsburgh and SMU.

The trip to Marquette is like a trip to NIU and the 'trip' to UofM is like a trip to the mall.

Instead of an ideal scenario we the got scenario from hell.

After last night, I know nobody's mind is on this Madonna game... but we tip off in 45 minutes. No work for me this week so I get to catch some midday basketball.

Guess I'm the only one watching. We lead 51-31 at halftime.

Madonna had a player play the best half of his life, hitting four 3s in a row and a lucky drive at the buzzer. Otherwise it would be 51-18ish.

I was there. Quaron Jones started along with Steele. Bond and Madray came off the bench. Bond seemed to injure or aggravate something on his leg in the 2nd half. JT dominated their small lineup, needs to start doing that against guys his size.

He didn't but stayed on the bench with the team. Didn't seem extremely serious, but he was definitely in some discomfort. Guess we will see Saturday how he is doing.

I've been waiting to go to a game but man, these early starts kill any chance so far with work, which stinks.

I won't make it Saturday either as it's the same time (pretty much) as the Michigan OSU game and the party that comes with it.

They also have an upcoming weeknight game, where I use the night party weakly, as they start at 2 PM vs Marygrove December 22nd.

RE: Game Week: Madonna & Omaha
Game day!!

We are, as Chad would say, a touchdown favorite over Omaha.

The line is around 7 or 7 1/2 points.

RE: Game Week: Madonna & Omaha
Nebraska has 32 points with 3 min to go in the first half despite 15 turnovers. our defense is either incredibly active and disruptive or we allow easy passes to the baseline. some things i've noticed:
- Steele looks confident in his 10-12 ft jumpers
- Toney has improved this year. he had confidence last year, but sometimes that led to problems. i haven't seen that this year.
- love Bond
- Mangum is shooting the lights out so far this year
