Independence: MTSU
New Mexico: UTSA
Hawaii: North Texas
Bahamas: USM*
*Before you yell at me for not putting USM in the New Orleans Bowl, recall that all 7+win teams must be slotted in bowls before any 6-6 team does, per C-USA rules. So ODU at 9-3/8-4 will get the better deal.
Based on that, I suspect the only way the Monarchs don't go to New Orleans is if they win the East. In that case, they will most likely pick Boca ahead of WKU.
As per rules, 7+ win teams will be placed into Bowl games ahead of 6 win teams. Okay so ODU gets placed in the Bahamas bowl before Southern Miss gets placed into the NO bowl.
IMO, this rule was made for teams with 6 wins to not be leap frog a bowl and leave a 7 win team at home. This year, there is no chance of being left at home. CUSA will know which 7 bowls they landed (6 contracted plus 1 fill-in) then find the best match ups in terms of attendance, ratings, etc.
That seems like a highly implausable reason for such a rule. When was the last time a 7 win CUSA team was leapfrogged for a bowl slot by a win CUSA team?

Exactly. This is to make sure the 7 win teams get bowls before 6 win teams, not to insure 7 win teams get preference in bowl selection over 6 win teams. The bowls and ESPN will place teams based on what will draw the most eyeballs and butts in seats.
Southern Miss is going to the New Orleans Bowl. ODU is most likely headed to the Bahamas, and MT to Hawaii. LA Tech will probably be in DFW, at either the HOD or Armed Forces Bowl. North Texas will probably be at the other. UTSA will probably head to New Mexico, and WKU will probably be in Boca.
The Big12 can't Fill their spot in the Armed Forces Bowl. It makes too much since not to send a C-USA team there to play Navy. Of course it looks like some other quality bowls will need teams too. We need to keep an eye on the Independence Bowl, and Cactus Bowl.

Throw the win totals out the window. They're meaningless. NO Bowl will take USM over ODU in a heart beat. ODU will not travel 20K strong to a bowl game in New Orleans. USM will.

Makes sense. MTSU will want as late a bowl as possible so Stockstill has maximum time to heal. If MTSU has time to heal up and get their groove back, they should be able to play with a meh ACC team. I-Bowl is the latest bowl we have, other than HOD.

Rebuilding or not, after that display of crap football in El Paso UNT should not except a bowl invite under any conditions. Embarrassing.
Totally agree. North Texas was an embarrassment today. This team does not deserve to be rewarded with a bowl game. Littrell owes our fan base an apology for that performance.

Neither do the other 5-7 teams.
I'm not a fan of those 5-7 teams. It's about standards. I refuse to celebrate a 5 win team backing into a bowl game after losing by 28 points to a 3 win team.
