Rice Men's Basketball @Omaha -- 2nd half game thread
Rice leads 43-41 at the half.

(Thought we needed a basketball game thread, now that the football game vs. UTEP -- Yay, Owls! -- is winding down.

Defense - rebound - basket - repeat!

Jackson 3 gives Owls a 10-point lead: 58-48, with 15:32 left in the game.

83-67, Rice leading with 7:31 left.

20-4 run early in the second half set the tone.

If we can get to 95, they shouldn't be able to catch us. This is the point where Rice teams in the past have stopped playing offense. Don't do that, Owls.

Discipline is needed on both ends of the floor.

I saw Oklahoma rapidly blow a huge lead yesterday through sheer stupidity and a lack of focus. You gotta play all 40. I think Rhoades knows how to get his players to stay in the moment.

90-75 with 3:57 left in the game. Owl69's 95-point goal looks reachable. :-)

Rice women up big over Houston Baptist in the second half. Could be a good day for Rice sport.

I agree. I just think a lot of people don't realize how important it is to keep playing offense with a big lead late. Most people think defense with a lead or offense when you are behind. When you're behind late, you need stops, so you have to play defense. When you're ahead late, if you keep scoring then they can't catch you. It just gets overlooked.

This one's in the bag. Just a question of margin now.

Around 1 minute left, Owls get to the century mark. 100-85.

Done! 100-85 with a minute left. (Last Rice century win: 109-59 vs Louisiana College in 2011.)

This team has some offensive firepower, which makes that TSU loss even more disappointing.

When if ever have we scored a 100 on the road? Nice job bouncing back though I still think as the season goes on the loss to TSU won't be as bad as it appears now.

Two nice road wins over mediocre opponents and one close home loss against another mediocre team - I'd give us a grade of B so far.

One major thing about Rhoades: His teams appear to get better as the season goes along. That is very, very good.

If this is where we're at now, I like our prospects.
