Just got it from the family that it's a torn MCL - tough break for a hard-nosed kid.

I, like many here, tore both. Absolutely the MCL is a much, much faster recovery. He'll likely FEEL like he can play in 2 weeks. Obviously unlikely but he'll feel like he could.

Big difference is the fact that the MCL normally does not require surgery and heals on its on much quicker than a surgerically replaced ACL.
