I just noticed MTSU plays Toledo twice next week. What brought that on Blue Raiders?

sure wish Tech would get away from playing teams like Oklahoma Baptist even if it meant playing Southland or MAC teams on the road

33 all at half. UTEP started 15-4, but that didn't last long.

RE: CUSA Basketball Week 2 11/20/16-11/26/16
Going into this week, Tiered Rankings:

Tier 1:
Charlotte
Marshall
Old Dominion

Old Dominion has C-USA' best win so far, at Richmond. Charlotte and Marshall join the Monarchs as the only three undefeated C-USA teams through eight days.

Tier 1.5:
Rice
UAB

These times are probably just as good as the Tier 1 teams, but both have questionable home losses blemishing the records. These losses probably won't define their seasons but they won't be helping C-USA get multi-bid status at this point.

Tier 2:
Louisiana Tech
Middle Tennessee
Western Kentucky

Louisiana Tech has lost two money games by single digits and a home win over a SWAC win. Middle Tenn and Western Kentucky both lost games to OVC teams, Hilltoppers offense needs help and the Blue Raiders come across as hungover from NCAA run.

Tier 3:
FIU
Florida Atlantic
North Texas
Southern Miss
UTEP
UTSA

This group is a combined 2-12 against D1 teams. These are the teams that are bringing us down in the RPI. They all have some winnable games coming up and need to show signs of life to keep C-USA competitive.

There was a strategically placed piece of dirt on my screen that made me read this as QVC teams. I'd like to think that no matter how bad things get for CUSA, they don't get THAT bad.

Belmount has only lost 3 games at home in nearly 4 years for a reason. The fact they hit 52% of they're 3 pointers (16 of them) did not help, our young team looked demoralized with every three that fell. I really hope that was a wake up call they needed.

If Marshall plays like they did in the 2nd half of the Western Carolina game for the entire season we will be one of the toughest outs for anyone on the other side of the court.

Is Western Carolina any good?

Larry Hunter's squads are always decent going back to his DII days and his days at Ohio. This WCU squad really has no PG, this years PG played SG last year for WCU. They had some nice ball movement in the 1st half and kept the game somewhat competitive at 40-32 at the half.

With that said it wasn't what WCU done in the 2nd half, its what Marshall done. In the 2nd half they had 13 assts and only turned the ball over once. That shows great ball movement. Marshall went on a 22-2 run to begin the 2nd half. Ratcheting up the defense and forcing bad shots and even 2 shot clock violations.

Once Marshall got across the timeline the ball moved with precision and accuracy. And the ball got down in the paint and one of three things happened. The ball was drove to the basket, the post player was double teamed and kicked the ball out for a wide open shot for a guard or the post player drew a foul and was sent to the line. Another thing Marshall is doing this year is making their free throws. They are 81.8% in the 3 games played.

I obviously didn't see the game, and frankly, I expect Marshall to be one of the leaders in CUSA this year. However, WCU is not a good team, at all. They lost their top 4 scorers from a team that was under .500 last year. They will finish at or near the bottom of the SoCon this year.

They were hitting bombs in the first half and slowing the tempo to a crawl.

We ended up winning 71-61.

UTSA doesn't have our best 3-point shooter right now. He got hurt halfway through the first half against Oregon State, and missed the two games since as well. Plus, the five guys with the most minutes played right now include 3 freshmen and 1 sophomore, so we're also really young. But you won't need to worry about us. Coach Steve Henson's the real deal. Trust me on this.
