But Josh seemed to be on a trajectory to get 'nobody' to play for the
"how many were vacated" Memphis Tigers. He would not have even been able to dangle the big12 dream at recruits any more. And parents who once liked his clean cut no-cussing allowed approach would start looking at the actuality of the results Josh was getting, rather than watch the pretty words coming out of his mouf into their living hopeful rooms.
If I look into my crystal ball at 'might-have-been' scenarios, Josh would have been reduced to trolling the campuses of Memphis for walkons.
B12 would not be major factor in BB recruiting. Josh lost the Memphis "Brand" that Cal built here over 10 years (and recruits don't know or care about vacates) and he just wasn't the coach we needed when Cal left.

Josh did smother and stomp on the Memphis brand, plus he did it all while paying positive lip service.
Being in a Power Conference would bring more interest from recruits outside of Memphis. Cal didn't take that many home boys in...did he?
Josh was reduced to taking most all of them, along with their higher than normal expectations. And just maybe Josh promised certain playing time or certain positions that he did not deliver. I don't think Tubby does that,
but I am always ready to think the best till proven otherwise a gazillion times.

yup....it's not a very good look, is it. No matter how we got here, it ain't purty.
So we can point the finger any place we choose--it takes up forum space and gets people riled up at each other.
Bottom line is, I saw a better team last night.

RE: Official Memphis Vs. UTRGV game thread ESPN 3
Sometime in late November...Memphis has the tourney with Providence/Iowa/Virginia and goes to Ole Miss, Georgia Tech goes to Penn State and Tennessee.
Memphis gets Providence first out of all of those games - the 25th.

Considering every game coached by JP is a perfectly lose-able game, I am just going to go with GT...

If all of y'all could please answer yes or no without beating around the bush so much, it would be noice.
lol Note the two part questions.
1. A. Is Pookie Memphis good or does he still lose games? B. Did Josh handle Pookie correctly or was the kid always gonna hit that wall where he loses control?
2. A. Is Tubby as good a recruiter as Josh, or are we doomed to suffer more now that Josh is gone?
B. ____________?
I think it's simple. JP recruits stars, Tubby recruits system. I'll take the latter 10 times out of 10.

Heres a gem
On Ben Lammers getting tired:
“He played 38 minutes, I was going to ride with Ben, that’s the type of guy I am. I’m going to go with guys and if I feel someone is going then I’m just going to go with them and if he’s earned my trust on that then I’m going to let him play through mistakes. He’s just got to be tougher and when he’s tired he’s got to be able to make plays even though he’s tired.”
