Anderson was on the hot seat after starting 0-4 with a loss to FCS Central Arkansas. But he's turned it around and in the drivers seat to win the Belt. That's just strange.

Speaking of Central Arkansas, we should really go get Steve Campbell. He's taken that average program and has them 9-1 and ranked #11. I said it years ago when he was still at Gulf Coast that he would do a great job here. But knew nobody would go along with hiring a juco coach. Hope we haven't missed our chance.

..yes, this is what "oui" should do...fire one FCS coach and hire another...gosh golly, I sure hope we haven't "missed our chance" with him.

So you don't think a good coach can come out of the FCS ? What is the logic behind that ?

ol' Barney has never played a down in his life...

and to 9's point, one has to start somewhere....not all have the golden spoon attached at the hip....

with our athletic budget and support mechanisms in place, it's going to be tough to hire anyone that has HC experience other than a Petrino or LE.....(I wish I could punch a few that thought Petrino would've been a bad hire here....they're the same that ran LE off)

does this mean that hiring someone from a lower tier is not acceptable? of course not....however, every coach we've had over the last couple of decades was once an OC with the exception of E12Loss....let that sink in for a moment....

going back further, Curley got lucky with Brett....and Big Nasty was coaching when X's and O's were much slower....we don't have that luxury anymore....

Hop's future is now on KH and More Ito's legs....and I question if he and Dawgshite have a clue how to make that function properly at this level.....hell, they completely destroyed the confidence of our leading passer in the history of southern miss football.....

it's like watching the Green teams at the Yurt all over again......

at some point, folks that are responsible for hiring need to understand the sport as it exists today at our level....

we need someone at the helm that understands offense backwards and forwards whilst in REM stasis.....we can't recruit nasty bunch style anymore....that option left the bldg long ago....at least fedhat (although he held onto BADford 2 yrs too long) and Monk had that part of the equation figured out....

I'd take Campbell tomorrow at this point. Have we ever hired a HC in any sport with multiple national championships at multiple levels?

Also, his background is on the offensive side of the ball. I'd bet he could've run a Monken-esque system one more year better than Hopson & Co. have.

Campbell runs a different kind of spread. His teams usually have great rushing numbers.

He does, but my point was he would've adjusted to having a senior system QB a lot better than the current staff. I'd bet the proverbial farm on it.

I don't know if Mullens struggles were as much the fault of the staff as they were our receivers sucking badly.

Everyone said Toolame's new HC was da bomb....and yes, he has bombed so far.03-lmfao

Didya see the "crowd" at Toolame?....say what ya want about us, but if Huderson goes to the Green Puddle, he will have played in front of larger crowds at Petal.

In terms of plays not made, absolutely, but very few of the multitudinous INTs were their fault. Mullens honestly hadn't looked sharp all year.
