Very very early RPI ratings.
Thanks to the #1 RPI team in the nation, the Charlotte 49ers, CUSA has surged into ninth place in the Conference RPI ratings. Middle Tennessee is 6th in the nation.

UAB is 243rd, but should get a boost by playing the 38th ranked Kansas Jayhawks on Monday.

Don't worry...rpiforecast.com has CUSA settling back into its old familiar territory, with an expected RPI of 16th. No chance for two bids this year. Unless we go nuts and win 23+ games. MT has the chance to finish like we did last year...gaudy record, with a bad RPI due to strength of schedule.

Yep, I think we can do...maybe 5 losses for an at large.

Due to the home Furman loss, rpiforecast is projecting us going 15-14 overall with a final RPI of 172. Furman projected at 14-15 with an RPI of 190.

We won't have to worry about UAB's RPI this season. It's win the Conference Tourney or bust.

KenPom now has UAB going 19-11 and 12-6, with virtually no chance of winning in the next two games.

Won't we have a game with either GWU or Georgia in between Kansas and St. Mary's?

I agree we don't have much of a shot on paper, but I'm excited to see us go up against the big boys. If we show up and compete, these games can really get us ready for later in the season..

I see this team winning about 20 games this year. However, I like our chances in the CUSA tournie in bham.

Much like the 2014 non con schedule (I.e 0-3 at the Battle 4 Atlantis). We all know what went on to happen that year. Conference USA tourney Champs and 60-59

RE: Very very early RPI ratings.
It really is a good strategy if you think about it.

If you're in a conference where the only sure bet is to win the conference tourney, then play teams well above your head in the OOC. Then you've had some excellent practice to prepare for play in a weak conference and hopefully win it all. Several years of this type of scheduling, theoretically, could turn you into a consistent tourney threat come March.

Horrible plan for football, but I think it's a decent idea for a game like basketball.

I think it was a great plan and applaud the staff for assembling such a strong schedule. We should be playing a OOCA schedule of this caliber most years IMO. At worst, you lose most of the big games, but thy prepare you for the CUSA tourney. Best case, you win some of them in a good year and position yourself to get an at large. The ONLY way essentially to get an at large is to play a schedule like this.

Keep it to under 12 turnovers & play a little bit of perimeter defense. Think we can keep it real close.

I believe the same thing.

Going soft in the out of conference part of the season doesn't do anyone any good. At most it'd stack some Ws, but, if you really want to make noise, then you want a lot of big games.

No one is expecting us to go through murderer's row handing out Ls to future tournament teams. It's all in pursuit of being an elite program. I've always been cool with taking these lumps in hopes of one day being competitive again in big games.

My expectations are tempered, but, at the very least, I don't want to see us embarrassed and on the wrong side of bunch of highlights.

What a schedule so far!

Arkansas Pine Bluff is rated 348 by KenPom, while Alabama A&M is 351st. There are 351 D1 teams!

On the flip side, Kansas is rated 5th and St. Mary's is 10th.
