I'm not fond of Louisville, but I will pull for them every single time against one of the teams in this conference.
C'mon, Cards!
I'm with ya. I hate Petrino but was rooting for the Ville. This may be the final resume builder Herman needed to bail.
Come on guys. Houston just got the big win this conference needed, in order to get that next huge TV contract, and P6 inclusion. Just ask anyone on the AAC board.

Love watching Petrino lose. Dude is a scumbag. Also not sure why people root against this conference. As long as we're in it it's good if it succeeds.

Wasn't Oklahoma top five when Houston took them down? Has any P5 team this season taken down two top five ranked teams (at the time they played)? Amazing performance and Houston certainly deserves to be ranked to end the season. Maybe Navy as well.
I agree it's important for the AAC to thrive so long as UC is a part of it. Are a lot of B12 fans waking up this morning thinking Houston is better than any of their ten teams?

The B12 doesn't want Houston because they'll "dilute the brand".
I'm happy to see a few teams in the American do well. This is our home and we should make the best of it, even if we're cellar dwellers in the conference.

Flush twice, it's a long way to Louisville.

Yes, I agree. My hope remains that UC starts the long climb out of that cellar December 8th.

No.
SMU - screwed their season when they lost that game. Houston won't even get into the AAC Championship game. Last night was Herman's final home game with one more to go on an AAC Friday night in Memphis in front of an empty Liberty Bowl.
My guess is that Herman doesn't even hang around for the crappy AAC bowl with the league's horrible contracts. He will take his coaching staff and his 5-Star recruit and they will be off for P5 land. Ed Oliver = Trevor Anderson

Houston is still in the running for an at-large bid to Cotton Bowl. The wins over Oklahoma and Louisville are two of the best wins any team has. The American is much better than most fans give credit. I keep wondering what the league would look like if BYU, Air Force, Boise State, and Army were added. Would that league have enough political clout and TV viewership to become a power 6? Probably not, but I could see a scenario where an expanded league earns around 10 million in TV revenue and a larger piece of CFP revenue when compared to the rest of the G5.

Could this have been the scheming by ESPN to keep the top AAC properties out of the B12, since they already own them on the cheap and own an existing network deal with BYU? If a way could be found for BYU (football only) to roll into the AAC, conference visibility increases immediately.
Regarding Herman, I've heard they put an enormous poison pill in his new contract; maybe $5 million if he walks? That wouldn't scare off Texas or LSU but it may protect UH from most other P5 bargain shoppers this season.

The Cotton Bowl? On ESPN Classic - their last one in '85 or their win over Nebraska in '80?
Unless Navy loses their next 2, Houston will not even make the AAC Championship game. Odds are it will be Temple vs Navy. The days of getting a big bowl because you have good wins are officially over for any G5 team. Boise is right now the odds on favorite for getting the Access bowl.
My prediction will be Houston gets an ACC team in the Military Bowl since Navy is already slated for the Armed Forces Bowl vs B12.

I think it's more carrot than stick. Something along the lines of a $5M bonus if he's still UH coach on x date although I think there may also be a clause tied to them being P5 to maximize the amount. So iirc, it's not going to deter potential suitors one bit. But it does give Herman the financial flexibility to stay at Houston for a bit and wait for a premiere offer/fit IF he doesn't find the perfect match this offseason.
