I'm not ashamed to admit that I'm ate up with envy over both of those programs and Cincy. They were as big of rivals as we'll ever have and same damn good football games. They have left us in the dust now and we are losing to BS like Charlotte and Old Dom.

completely agree.....'doing more with less' has become a lost art in today's schema....

Speaking of doing "more with less" I think it's getting harder because of all the rules and regulations in place within the NCAA. It's really hard to just "outwork" people anymore because of all the rules and limits the NCAA has on what you can do in recruiting and at practice.

For example, 30 years ago, schools like Southern Miss could have longer, harder, more disciplined practices than other teams and might gain an edge with toughness that way.
Now, the NCAA sets strict limits on amount of practices you can have and how long they can last. They even limit how many of those can involve pads. An example in recruiting is that the head coach can only visit a recruits home one time. I think regulations like this have hurt us. We were able to outwork and out tough people in the past. Now that is almost impossible because everybody is doing the same things, most with a bigger budget than us.

The real problem has been our inability lose the "with less" part altogether. Instead of spending the past 30-40 years finding more ways to "do more with less," we should've been working on "getting more with which to do."
