Lynch missed passes that badly when he was a senior...

RE: Santa
Loved the way Santa ran the ball. He's a difference maker as a runner -- instinctive and tough. He was a nervous wreck throwing the ball but he will improve. I think he's a much, much better option than Graham right now even with his deficiencies as a passer.

RE: Santa
I'm not sure how anyone who watched that game was able to conclude Santa is better than anyone. He hopefully will improve, but if you found positives to take away from the performance other than he's an okay runner, you're seeing what you want.

Lynch missed passes that badly when he was a senior...
Is that a "just saying" or justification to play him? Or perhaps justification to say, using NIU05 logic against him, Lynch shouldn't have played?
Either way the comparison is immaterial. One's ability has nothing to do with the other's.

There is no doubt, we are in trouble next year.

The comparison isn't immaterial. The comparison was used to illustrate that the greatest QB in NIU history made similarly bad throws and that looking at a handful of bad throws by Santa doesn't necessarily meant that he shouldn't play QB. Harnish had accuracy issues early on too. Definitively declaring someone "not a QB" after 15 redshirt freshman pass attempts just makes no sense. There weren't a ton of positives from his half of play and I don't think he's ever going to lead NIU to 10+ win seasons but who knows.

RE: Santa
WOW....digging in to support Santa as a QB. We are 4-8 because Hare did not play. We need a player like Hare not Santa. Santa expect same ##it next year. The object is to win, to win championships and we need much better.

I don't think so. If he is, we are in trouble. He played with a big heart vs EMU and will do the same vs Kent but to be a 9,10 11, 12 game winning seasons, have to have excellence at QB (Harnish, Lynch, Hare). If you don't realize that from our last 15 games then you think QB is just another position.
Wow, that's pretty amazing to be able to reach that conclusion from a body of work that consists of 2 1/2 quarters of football.
I've seen a lot of NIU football and have had the good fortune of getting to know Bill Mallory and am close friends with Coach Novak and it is amazing how much you learn from taking to a coach. Our next QB has to be in the class of our great ones. If you think either Graham or Santa will ever approach that level then good for you, you have your opinion. Santa was a warrior out there vs EMU and I expect nothing less vs Kent. But its EMU and Kent. Yes I can tell that from 2 1/2 Q.
I know what you mean. I am good friends with Rob Judson and Ricardo Patton. It's amazing all I learned about basketball from those fine coaches. It is a lot different seeing the game through their eyes.

How does that even equate. Mallory Novak not quite the same. I was waiting for a wise ass response and you did not disappoint. I think I agree with a couple of other posters, time to take a break from this

RE: Santa
I remember some people remarking about Maddie not looking like a QB when he first played.
Santa was #4 when the season started. He was probably like a deer in headlights. He could very well end up being decent, despite the bad throws in less than a full game. I do like that he appears a little more solid than Graham, has more of a build like Lynch, so he might be able to run the ball better without getting hurt.
I know nothing about the freshmen coming in that haven't played yet. They could easily flame out just like plenty of other high-rated players.

I definitely saw what I want. A QB leading a second half rally to overcome a 21-0 deficit. Granted a lot of that was Huff but Santa got us some huge first downs that Graham wasn't even whiffing in the first half. And like I said he can't possibly be that bad throwing once he settles down. And again the passes will be there the way he runs the ball.

Are those numbers accurate? I mean, how often do they update them?
