RE: Recruiting 2017-18
I saw on Twitter the late signing period for basketball starts today. Do we know of any guys that will be joining the Drexel program today?

No news yet. When we brought in past late recruits its tends to be early summer so I would guess may/june if we bring a transfer in etc.

It looks like we have verbal commitment from a JUCO player from Central Wyoming, Alihan Demir. He is 6'8" originally from Turkey.

Any news on him/talent? Sounds like he will replace Peck well from the youtube video of him.

RE: Recruiting 2017-18
Appears to have some skills - lots of videos of him especially with his play in Turkey which looks like he was a guard?! The JUCO videos he looked more like a PF with solid post up moves, ability to drive to hoop and a pick/pop skill set. Demir could be a versatile performer off the bench.

RE: Recruiting 2017-18
Guess I'm happy to see us actually go the JUCO route again, and I'm somewhat willing to give the staff a chance after bringing in Kurk and Kari, but, I dunno. Shot 57.5% from 2, but not really a threat from deep that Jeremy (extremely small sample size) demonstrated and not overly strong on the boards. So, ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.

Looks like he'll be a soph, guess we'll see if the staff can develop him any.

RE: Recruiting 2017-18
I agree with you DrachenFire. Hoping for the best, hopefully he can be a diamond in the rough. I looked on his page on Verbal Commits and he didn't have any scholarship offers. I am a little concerned about this from a recruiting stand point. However, Kurk didn't have any offers as well

I was kind of hoping for one of the new shooters or a sf instead but I am happy they got someone to replace Pecks spot.

RE: Recruiting 2017-18
I wonder if we are done with recruiting for this year. If Major graduates/leaves then we would have one spot left. I am guessing we will know soon/graduation date.

RE: Recruiting 2017-18
It looks like we picked up a transfer, James Butler, a 6'8" forward from Navy. He will sit out this year. http://drexeldragons.com/roster.aspx?rp_...ath=mbball He didn't do much for Navy but certainly put up some scoring numbers in high school.

This pick-up and his absence from the roster confirms that Major is not playing for Drexel any more.

I hope Butler is a walk-on. Why would we take a transfer that didn't do much at Navy???

Looks like an interesting pickup. Definitely seems there is potential there, and would still have three years.

He didn't do much because he was a freshman that didn't get a lot of opportunities and decided to leave after 12 games.

According to Verbal Commits, Drexel signed a 6'10" center from Finley Prep - Tadas Kararinas? Anyone know anything about him?

RE: Tadas Kararinas - Looks like it's Findlay Prep, Henderson NV, and he's from Lithuania. Don't know if there's any confirmation.

RE: Recruiting 2017-18
Looks like he played for the U19 and U20 Lithuania teams . and didn't play many minutes. Looks like he didn't play much at Findlay Prep either, but their roster is usually loaded with high level Div I talent. According to Verbal Commits he is part of this year's class so he would be eligible this year? Nothing on the DD site though.

RE: Recruiting 2017-18
As Spearsie mentions, he played for some Lithuanian youth teams. He was in the same European U20 tournament as Kari this summer. He played garbage time in a couple of games. Here are a couple of videos - he is #10 for Lithuania. As foreign big guys go, he is more in the mold of Goran than Elegar. He appears to have a decent mid-range shot.

Latvia - he enters at about 1:39:00 - scores at about 1:48:50
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=53jR_MPC...2&index=36

Germany - he enters at about 1:23:30, he attempts an almost 3-pt shot soon after that, then makes a shot around 1:35:10

RE: Recruiting 2017-18
Tadas is on the roster on drexeldragons.com now. If verbal commits is rights, he will be on scholarship taking Major's spot with Butler joining Alford as a walk-on. Andrew Cartwright is not listed on the roster anymore.

According to Verbal Commits - Drexel just made an offer to a SG Coletrane Washington. I don't know how good a player he is, but wouldn't it be cool to have a Coletrane on the roster!!!
